Dallas Page talks about Christian
January 15, 2006

DDP joined us on The Stranglehold this week to promote his appearances this weekend at the Get Hooked on Health Fitness Expo in St. Louis. Besides discussing his new "Yoga for Regular Guys" book and workout, thought you might be interested in some of these highlights.

On Christian Cage...
"Now Christian on the other hand, if it wasn't for Christian I probably would've slit my throat in WWF. You know, because Christian worked with me unbelievably and even though we had no steam on our match, if you go to Wrestlemania 18 and watch that match--the people were with it huge.

And that was a tough house to get people with you--68,000 people. People think with a bigger crowd the easier it is--no, no. (laughs) 10,000. 20,000 is like way better than 68,000. But they were with that match huge. Christian was such, I think he's so talented. I'm so glad he actually held onto, copyrighted or trademarked his own name and Captain Charisma, that was brilliant. Hats off to him. He's another one of my favorite guys."

SATURDAY NIGHT ON 'iMPACT!" ON SPIKETV
The night before Sunday's "Final Resolution" Pay-Per-View

MAIN EVENT: NWA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS AMERICA'S MOST WANTED vs. "CAPTAIN CHARISMA" CHRISTIAN CAGE AND "THE MAN BEAST" RHINO
There's a war in TNA Wrestling as the roster prepares for the arrival of Sting at "Final Resolution" - and another shot will be fired Saturday night on "iMPACT!" in the main event as Christian Cage and Rhino team up to battle Jarrett army enforcers and tag team kingpins America's Most Wanted!

Christian on BWR
On the first BWR of 2006 we welcomed "Captain Charisma" Christian Cage to the show for a solid 30 minute interview where he talks The Rock, Sting and more!

BWROnline

The solid interview started off with Christian Cage saying that TNA differs from WWE because he feels the atmosphere is more intense. Christian claimed that although TNA was on a smaller scale than WWE, everyone is into the product in TNA and believes in the product. Christian was then asked about meeting Sting at the Impact tapings, and Christian noted that while looking very in shape, he also had a positive outlook for TNA's future.    http://bwronline.net/BWR/

Tonight Live on Pay Per View from Orlando Florida TNA presents what may be one of there biggest shows to date.
But one of the most recognizable names in wrestling history will return to the ring as the they call Sting makes his return to TNA as he teams with Christian Cage to take on NWA Champion Jeff Jarrette and the Alpha Male Monty Brown.

Sting & Christian Cage vs. Jeff Jerrett and Monty Brown.
There seems to be a pattern forming as the NWA title is defended on PPV every other month while in between we get the standard tag team match envolving the champion.  This time however it's a little bit different as TNA's newest acquisition and former WCW Champion Sting is making his return.  Alot of people are skeptical of what Sting can do to help TNA and what his motivation is for coming back to wreslting.  Will he have an ego and refuse to do jobs? or will he be willing to put over others and bust his but to help TNA gain recognition in the wrestling industry.  There are a lot of questions to be answered and Sting has alot to prove so this should be interesting to say the least.  Christian will probably work most of the match finally getting the hot tag into Sting who will clean house and hit the Scorpion Deathdrop on Monty Brown for the win.  This will lead to Monty taking on Sting in a singles match next month while Christian gets his NWA title shot against Jeff Jerrett.
Winner: Sting and Christian

Backstage was Monty Brown with a Bob The Builder stuffed toy, making fun of Christian Cage. Monty then sent out his warnings to Christian, telling him that no one is going to leap frog over him, and that he’s definitely not The Alpha Male around here. Monty finished by saying Cage was going to feel something and it was The Pounce, period. But then it was NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Jeff Jarrett who appeared onto the scene and told Monty that he just didn’t get it. Jarrett said if it were up to him, Monty would have had the shot a long time ago for the title. The Alpha Male said that the face of 2006 will be the face of The Alpha Male. Jarrett said that Monty didn’t get it, so he was going to go talk to someone that does get it. Jarrett was portraying that he knows what the announcement will be concerning the face of 2006. With more than 250 nights a year living out of a suitcase, pounding the hell out of his body at arenas all over the world, Jay Reso was worn down -- physically and mentally. It didn't seem right. He was just 32 years old.
And his Christian character seemed to be in a rut, with WWE failing to capitalize on Captain Charisma's magnetism. So the time just seemed right that he should get out when his contract expired on Oct. 31.

"I was really on the fence until the last minute," said TNA's newest superstar Christian Cage over the phone earlier this week. "It wasn't until I pulled up to the arena on Oct. 30 that I realized my time there was over.     Articles

The entire TNA staff is back in Nashville after nearly a week in Orlando, and there’s plenty to talk about.
On Sunday night, in my opinion, TNA continued its streak of delivering on Pay-Per-View with “Genesis”, which featured the debut of Christian Cage. It will certainly be among the top candidates for “memorable moment of the year” when the TNA Year-End Awards are announced in a month. After his debut on Sunday, I got a chance to sit down with him for an exclusive interview for the website, and you could see the excitement in him. It’s great to be working with him again, as I last saw him “brooding” back in ’99. He’s come a long way since then, and he’s certainly going to be a tremendous addition to TNA Wrestling as he’s a class act with limitless talent.

Possible **SPOILERS** For TNA's Genesis PPV

Despite the photos of Genesis and TNA on Chris Jericho's official website, ChrisJericho.com, there are absolutely no plans of him coming to TNA. Chris has always liked to get the internet worked up and figures since TNA announced a 'Major Acquisition' and so many people have speculated on message boards that he is coming to TNA, he has added the photos in hopes of fooling a bunch of people. It is absolutely 110% confirmed that TNA's acquisition is Christian. That's all there is to it, nothing more, nothing less, plain and simple. Hopefully this is good enough to quiet some people.

While many people think Jay Reso (WWE's Christian) will use the name "Christian Cage," which he owns the rights to, it is not confirmed. If he does show up at tomorrow night's PPV, it will likely be a run-in during the main-event.

Jay "Christian" Reso trademarks new wrestling names
Submitted by Brian Cantor on Wednesday, November 9,
2005 at 8:14 PM EST
Jay Reso, the wrestler known to WWE fans as Christian,
moved to trademark his old independent name for use in
future pro wrestling endeavors.

Reso filed for the name "Christian Cage" on November
2, 2005. He also filed for the nickname "Captain
Charisma," indicating that he will likely use his WWE
nickname as well.

Both names were filed for use in the pro wrestling
industry, as well as for the marketing of action
figures, clothing, video games, multimedia and future
goods using his likeness.

The wrestler was to debut with TNA at Sunday's Genesis
PPV. In a cryptic announcement regarding his debut,
TNA's Dixie Carter referred to his impending debut as
"the single biggest jump in TNA history."

More On Former WWE Wrestler Debuting In TNA (SPOILER)
Written by Daniel Pena
November 09, 2005

The official TNA website issued a follow-up on a major wrestler debuting in TNA this Sunday. TNA President Dixie Carter states that it's the single biggest jump in TNA history.

"Major Acquisition" To Appear For TNA This Sunday At "Genesis"

November 8th, 2005 16:44

On Tuesday morning, TNA management informed TNAwrestling.com that the company has come to terms with a "major acquisition" who will appear this Sunday during the live "Genesis" Pay-Per-View.

When reached for comment, TNA President Dixie Carter offered the following:

"This is the single biggest jump in TNA history," Carter said. "The contract is signed, the travel is set and in my opinion, 'Genesis' just got a whole lot more intriguing."

TNA will have further information on the "major acquisition" this Sunday on the live countdown preshow a half hour before "Genesis".

Also, sources within the TNA production crew are saying that the newest TNA star is to be none other than Christian. The reason for this is that videos have been made with graphics of the name "Chris Jin." The videos do not feature Jason Reso himself, but are more along the lines of what WWE did with the Boogeyman, no shots of him, but just a buildup video. It appears that TNA will attempt to get around WWE trademarking the name Christian by using "Chris Jin", which, when pronounced, sounds exactly the same.

FORMER WWE SUPERSTAR JUMPS TO TNA
It didn't take long for Captain Charisma to find a new work place. TNA's Dixie Carter is hyping this as "the single biggest jump in TNA history." And it may very well be. Former WWE Superstar Christian is scheduled to appear on the TNA PPV "Genesis", making his first non WWE appearance in eight long years. Christian, who did not sign a new
contract, had no 90-day no compete clause, which pretty much paved the way to appear on TNA whenever he saw fit. His last TV appearance was last Friday during Smackdown! when he got pinned in the main event.
Despite having no contract, Christian still worked Monday's RAW and Tuesday's PPV.

Inside Update On Christian-WWE-TNA
Written by Ryan Clark
November 08, 2005

To follow-up on the Christian signing with TNA, it really came down to several things.

As reported by TNAWrestlingNews.com, when Jay Reso, also known as Christian, debuts for TNA Wrestling, he should be able to continue using the Christian name that he used in WWE. He will not have to rename himself like past WWE superstars (Dudley Boyz, Billy Gunn, Road Dogg, etc.) coming to TNA had to do.

The reason for this is he was billed as Christian Cage on the independent circuit early on in his career. At the very worst, WWE will force him to call himself the full Christian Cage name, although that would be somewhat pointless and the good money is he will still be just "Christian." This is very similar to circumstances that surrounded the Honky Tonk Man leaving the World Wrestling Federation years ago and continuing to use that name. The precedent set here was that he was Honky Tonk Wayne in Stampede Wrestling. He was allowed to use the Honky Tonk Man name, then, anywhere he went because he had established the basics of his name and character long before his WWF tenure. It would be the same case with Jay Reso.

Now, some strong reasons a TNA deal appealed to Christian. He has been a close friend of TNA booker and talent Scott D'Amore ever since the two met years ago as independent wrestlers in Canada. Christian also lives in Florida approximately 90 minutes driving time from where the TNA live events take place at Universal Studios. As far as his former WWE contract goes, just to reiterate this point, there is no 90 day non-compete clause to worry about since his contract actually expired. An immediate TNA arrival will occur this Sunday at the PPV.

One last major point to bring up here is also a reason Christian did not resign with WWE. The main reason he didn't sign was because of the lack of a push he was getting despite the fact that he had gotten himself over with the crowd in a major way. However, another big reason is because Christian is currently in negotiations for a significant part (what is being reported as a fifth or sixth lead role) in a major movie to be produced by New Line in February. Christian definitely wants the freedom to take this role. He also reportedly wants some free time where he can study acting and prepare for the role. This would be almost impossible to do while still taking part in a full time WWE schedule. The TNA schedule of usually only taping three (2 Impact tapings and a PPV) days a month could fit him well in this regard.

There had been talks between Christian and TNA before his contract even ran up. He has been upset for months backstage in WWE and had talked to people in TNA about a debut with the company. It's not that TNA 'stole' Christian from WWE. It was just the fact that before Christian left WWE, he knew he was heading to TNA and had a verbal agreement with several TNA staffers.

TNAWrestling just posted the following:

"MAJOR ACQUISITION" TO APPEAR FOR TNA THIS SUNDAY AT "GENESIS"

On Tuesday morning, TNA management informed TNAwrestling.com that the company has come to terms with a "major acquisition" who will appear this Sunday during the live "Genesis" Pay-Per-View.

When reached for comment, TNA executive Frank Dickerson offered the following:

"This is the single biggest jump in TNA history," Dickerson
said. "The contract is signed, the travel is set and in my
opinion, 'Genesis' just got a whole lot more intriguing."

TNA will have further information on the "major ecquisition" this Sunday on the live countdown preshow a half hour before "Genesis".

Note: With the wording of Frank Dickerson, it appears as though this is Christian signing with TNA. As noted on TNAWrestlingNews.com several days ago, Christian does not have a no compete clause. It is rumored a deal was signed in the last several days.

The reason TNA didn't announce Christian by name as appearing at Genesis this Sunday is simply because they are not sure on what they will be calling him just yet. The final verdict will be revealed at the PPV on Sunday. TNA obviously wants to do everything right to try to avoid a legal lawsuit so they will be looking over the matter
before 'officially' announcing him by name. TNAWrestlingNews.com has learned that this was said to have been a done deal for quite some time, even before Christian left WWE. The two sides had been talking
and a deal was finally signed this past week according to one source familiar with the situation

Before I go, I have one last SmackDown related note I'd like to touch upon, and just as a warning, this is the only time you'll see Louie Dee pull back the curtain a little bit. Earlier this week, Christian decided to quit World Wrestling Entertainment. WWE Notes: Christian-TNA Deal
By Ryan Clark

According to sources, Christian is all but confirmed to sign with TNA. In real life, he is good friends with both Rhino and TNA booking committee member Scott D'Amore and a deal is said to be all but signed. The travel schedule with TNA also appeals to him as he wants to get into movies and actually already has a big role lined up for him in February.

Chris Benoit's contract with WWE expires in three weeks and he is getting a lowball figure like Christian did with his contract. The contract offer is for half of what he is making now. There is no word yet on whether he'll take it or not.

Christian's final interview
November 2, 2005

Earlier this week, SmackDown Superstar Christian alerted World Wrestling Entertainment that he was leaving the company. In an interview with WWE.com conducted Wednesday evening, the former Intercontinental Champion revealed that his decision to walk away from WWE was one that he struggled with for some time.

WWE.com: What lead to your decision to leave World Wrestling Entertainment?
Christian: My contract came up on Oct. 31 and we negotiated back and forth a little bit. But it wasn’t about the money for me, really. There were some other things that were going on that helped sway my decision. It wasn’t a contract dispute, if that’s what you want to call it. It was a number of different things – I’ve been on the road with WWE for eight years straight, and it takes a toll on your body when you’re going 250-300 days a year.

So part of it was that, and obviously there was some frustration and a lot of other reasons that factored in. But I wasn’t bitter at all. There’s no hostility. There’s just some times when you need a change and you need to do different things. It was something that I felt was necessary for myself at this time.

Plus, I have some other interests going on outside the business that I’m really looking forward to. I’m not saying I’m giving up wrestling, but there are some other things that are very appealing to me. I had a great eight-year run with WWE. A lot of guys would dream of having a run that long. So I thank God that I got to live my dream for that long. When it came down to it, not a lot of guys get to leave on their own terms, and it was something that I felt strongly that I wanted to do?  Christian's Final Interview

Sources report that Christian's last contract was worth $200,000/year downside guarenteed salary; with bonuses and card payoffs included, he made roughly $400,000 last year. The new offer he received from WWE was obviously not enough to account for the disillusionment Christian had been facing with the product.

It is not known if TNA has reached out to Christian, nor is it known if he will be bound to any sort of no-compete clause; however, one would assume that TNA would definately show some interest in utilizing the talent. Because of its location in Christian's home state of Florida, the lack of monetary incentive could be offset by the convenience of working a limited schedule almost entirely in the state.

Christian will be present at tonight's Taboo Tuesday PPV. Should he win the vote, he will be wrestling.

Just prior to leaving the arena Tuesday night, former Intercontinental Champion Christian offered the following quote to WWE.com concerning his decision to quit World Wrestling Entertainment.

"Looking for a shoot interview? Looking for the inside scoop? You want to know all about how I walked into Vince's office . . . how we got into a huge argument, slammed the door - stormed out of the company, and maybe one day they'll have a self destruction of Christian DVD that's what you're looking for?

Well, that's not what happened. The actual reason is . . . well it's a lot of personal reasons as to why I made the decision to leave WWE, and actually too many to get into, but I will say this . . . I gave everything I had to the WWE for eight years. I gave everything to the fans. I feel they gave me everything they had. But you know never say never in this business. Hopefully they won't forget about Christian and we'll see what happens in the future."
credit:wwe.com

As previously reported, Christian's bio on the SmackDown! page has been taken down, however he is still featured on the Taboo Tuesday website as an option for the tag match (given his professional decision to work the PPV.) Also, the Christian Peep Show t-shirt is still available on WWEShop.com and may lower in price now that Christian isn't an actual member of the roster (WWE loves to make money off of talent, employed or no.)

Despite WWE.com confirming that Christian was leaving the company, he still appeared on RAW last night with no explanation. The feeling is that the announcement was supposed to be held off until after Taboo Tuesday but was leaked by the webteam early. Christian will be leaving WWE following Taboo Tuesday tonight. He is leaving on fairly good terms with management.

Christian was a total pro and was at RAW yesterday and even at Taboo Tuesday tonight just in case he's voted for the match. It will be his last day with the company as he quit
yesterday.

Christian is reportedly backstage at RAW tonight and will also - out of professional courtesy - be present at Taboo Tuesday. Many believe that WWE.com released news of his quitting to deter potential voters from checking Christian on their ballots; it remains to be seen if WWE will address the situation on tonight's RAW.

Who own's Christian's Name?

For those wondering who owns the Christian name, it is registered to:

(REGISTRANT) World Wrestling Federation Entertainment, Inc. CORPORATION DELAWARE 1241 East Main Street Stamford CONNECTICUT 06902

This would mean that if he was going to work the indy scene or TNA he would need to go under his real name or a different character. As reported earlier, Christian is backstage at RAW right now and is expected to work Taboo Tuesday.

Christian quitting WWE will likely be addressed tonight on RAW as they need to explain why the fans won't be able to vote for him tomorrow night.

CHRISTIAN QUITS WWE
- In a shocking turn of events, WWE Superstar Christian has quit WWE according to the official website at WWE.COM. Christian - real name Jay Reso - has been with the company since August of 1998 where he enjoyed a successful tag team stint with his partner Edge. Together they won seven tag titles and also had the title reigns with Lance Storm and Chris Jericho. He's been a three time IC champ, Euro champ, Light-Heavyweight champ and also a Hardcore champion during his WWE career. Although no official reason has been give as to why he quit, it was no secret that Reso was unhappy lately in the company with the way that he has been
utilized.

Dave Meltzer of the Observer reports that his contract expired and he just refused to sign a new one. His 'Captain Charisma' merchandise was a hot seller at live WWE events clearly showing that he had solid fan base but WWE never went forward with him giving him a decent, singles push. Christian was supposed to be one of the five Smackdown! Superstars who were up in the voting to appear in tomorrow's
Taboo Tuesday pay-per-view.

More On Christian Quitting WWE
by Daniel Pena
October 31, 2005

Jay Reso wrestled his final match with WWE for the time being at last night's Smackdown tapings.  Smackdown was taped yesterday because of Taboo Tuesday by the way. Reso quitting WWE is very much true and not a work. One reason that led to his sudden departure is that he was given a new contract to sign one week ago as his old contract had just expired. WWE officials wanted him to sign the new contract on the spot. He refused to sign the new one. He came to work last night to do another job and then he quit. Also,
WWE.com has removed his profile from the Smackdown
page.

Major Backstage Details On The Christian-WWE Situation
by: Tim Brown
on October 31, 2005 at 13:08:27

PWInsider.com reports that Christian has been miserable in WWE for quite a while, and it only got worse when he was moved to the SmackDown roster.

His quitting is not a work or storyline, however knowing WWE’s recent booking style, it could be turned into a storyline later on. As previously noted, he did not sign the new contract that WWE offered him.
Christian felt that WWE should have offered him more money for what he’s been putting up with, and has told friends he will give WWE a chance write him out of storylines.

Christian has also told friends that he had a big run and saved his money, and is in a position where he can afford to quit the company. It’s somewhat like the what happened with Chris Jericho, who has almost completely separated himself from pro wrestling.

Something interesting to note is that Christian lives in Florida, which is where TNA tapes all their shows and runs their PPVs. This would allow for a situation similar to Scott Hall or Kevin Nash’s, where he can
take the quick drive up to Orlando once or twice a week to wrestle, then go back home to be with his family.

Yet Even More On Christian Quitting WWE
by Ryan Clark
October 31, 2005

The Christian quitting WWE story that was posted earlier today on WWE.com is not a work. We have been reporting now for months that Christian has not been happy with his current status in WWE. He has told friends that he is upset with current WWE storylines and felt he should have had more of a role on SmackDown!.

We're told Christian had been in contract renegotiations with WWE for quite some time. His current deal expires today and apparently last week a new deal was offered to him. He was told to sign it and go from there. We're told Christian refused to sign the contract either because he didn't like the wording of it or he just simply did not want to
re-sign. He did agree with WWE to show up last night at the tapings to 'do the job'.

Several members of upper management were said to be surprised at the decision Christian made. Others felt it was only a matter of time before he got so fed up and left. His bio has also been removed from WWE.com.

Of course this will likely fuel rumors that Christian is headed to TNA. It's very early to even speculate just yet but if one had to guess, he'll be in TNA by early 2006. As noted earlier, Christian does live in
Florida so it could be a situation similar to Kevin Nash where he could just drive to the arena, wrestle, and then go home. No word on if he'll have a no compete clause as his contract has expired.

Has Mr. Long gone too far?

Has SmackDown’s General Manger gone too far?

First, Theodore Long took advantage of his one match afforded by WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon to load up WWE Homecoming with SmackDown Superstars. (World Heavyweight Champion Batista, United States Champion Chris Benoit, Rey Mysterio, JBL, Christian, and Eddie Guerrero will all take part.)

Now, WWE.com has learned that “Legend Killer” Randy Orton, “Cowboy” Bob Orton and “Mr.” Ken Kennedy have been spotted backstage at the American Airlines Center. Is SmackDown crashing Eric Bischoff’s party?

How will RAW’s roster react to the presence of so many SmackDown Supertars on a night that features a “Loser Leaves RAW” Ladder Match; a WWE Championship Match; a 30-Minute WWE Iron Man Match and Triple H’s return?

Be sure to tune in to RAW (7:55 p.m. ET on USA) to find out.

With Homecoming on the horizon, Mr. McMahon gave Theodore Long the authority to make a SmackDown match for the show, to be announced this week on Friday Night SmackDown. When the time came to make the announcement, however, Long and Palmer Canon were coy about their decision; instead of announcing a specific match, they would only say that World Heavyweight Champion Batista, United States Champion Chris Benoit, Rey Mysterio, JBL, Christian, and Eddie Guerrero would all be involved. Be sure to tune into WWE Homecoming on the USA Network on October 3 to find out exactly how these Superstars will be involved.

In addition, three more matches were made for No Mercy, including a Fatal Four Way for the United States Championship. During the Peep Show, Christian told the fans why he deserved a shot at Chris Benoit. This brought out Booker T and Sharmell, and later Orlando Jordan, to state their cases for the opportunity. GM Theodore Long announced that he would let Benoit decide his opponent for No Mercy, then ordered Booker, Christian, and Orlando to compete in a Triple Threat Match. After Jordan pulled out the victory, Benoit toyed with the competitors, before deciding that he would take on all three challengers on october 9.

The Peep Show made its return to Smackdown after a multi-week absence. Captain Charisma wasted little time in telling us that he thinks he deserves a US title shot after pinning Benoit a couple of weeks ago in tag team action. Booker T then showed that he listens to his spouse by coming out and demanding a US title shot of his own.  read here SmackDown Results

Christian Peep Show T-Shirt
Welcome to hottest weekly segment on Friday night television, ”The Peep Show!” Much to the delight of the “Peepulation,” Christian recently injected SmackDown with a shot of charisma by joining the blue roster to assemble his own in-ring discussion forum. Each week, “The Christian Coalition” watches on as their hero invites another SmackDown personality to enter his world, most of whom find it hard to compete with the quick-witted personality that is “Captain Charisma!” Nothing epitomizes the phrase “TV That’s Changing Friday Night’s” quite like “The Peep Show,” so make sure to jump on board and purchase your copy of Christian’s latest T-shirt release! No questions asked…this program is “For The Peeps, By The Peeps!!” Black. 100% cotton. Screen-printed in the USA. Imported.

Lance Storm Q & A
On the latest installment of Q & A on Lance Storm's official site, Lance had the following to say about Christian...

Q: Who are the most underrated wrestlers around right now?

A: Christian.

Q: Have you ever seen a A.J. Styles match and if you have were you impressed and Do you think Christian will have main event status anytime soon?

A: Nothing recent, but that will change when TNA hits Spike in October. As for Christian, unfortunately I doubt it.

With the move to Friday right around the corner, SmackDown! Superstars offered their favorite moments from past Thursday nights:
Christian: My favorite moment would have to be the TLC Match from 2001. It was me and Edge against the Hardy Boyz, the Dudley Boyz and Chris Benoit & Chris Jericho. I think this one is kind of like the forgotten TLC Match. Not as many people remember this one for whatever reason. It stands out to me because we had no idea it was coming. It was sprung on us the morning of the match. With such an intense match you usually have time to prepare mentally and physically. I’ve been in a bunch of Tables, Ladders and Chairs Matches and this one definitely ranks right up there.

WWE.com contacted a number of SmackDown! Superstars to get their thoughts on the show's move to Friday nights beginning Sept. 9.
Christian: It'll be a great way to kick off the weekend. Plus, the move will probably attract a lot of youngsters to the show. It might also make the other networks step up their programming for Friday nights.

CAPTAIN CHARISMA SHIRTS RETURN TO THE  SMACKDOWN BRAND RESULTS FROM FREDERICK, MDMERCH TABLE
by Adam Hogamier @ 8:36:00 AM on 9/4/2005

The event was a make-good date event by the WWE for the July 16th event. The plus was that there was no Boogeyman to be seen (no thunder showers). Also, they were selling "Captain Charisma" T-Shirts which I was able to get one of them.

Chris Benoit d. Orlando Jordan in a match that lasted more then 25 seconds.

"The Mexicools" Psichosis & Super Crazy d. William Regal and Paul Birchall
No one really knew who to cheer, but most cheered the Mexicools. Ironically enough after the match, Mexicools took off while Regal and Birchall stayed to pose and talk to fans.

Theodore Long came out next to run down the card which was: Orton vs. Mysterio, MNM vs. Heidenreich/Animal ( I refuse to call them the new LOD), and Batista vs. JBL.

Nunzio d. "Spanky" Brian Kendrick & Juventud in a Cruiserweight Championship Match
"Spanky" was introduced as Brian Kendrick there was no mention of "Spanky" besides his tights. Not many people remembered Kendrick and a small "Spanky" chant started. Most people in the stadium only remembered him from his streaking skit. He (Kendrick) played the fall guy/jobber for the match. Nunzio pinned Kendrick. This is a shame as "Spanky" Brian Kendrick is an amazing talent but will probably be used as a joke in WWE. (Note to Kendrick: Don't cross the Boss).

Mr. Ken Kennedy d. Simon Dean
This match was confusing as Simon Dean came out first and told the fans that Frederick was the most fat and unhealthy city. Ken Kennedy attacked him, then agreed with Simon Dean that the fans were fat. (Note: if you are going to have a match between two wrestlers, give us a reason to cheer one of them.) This alone made the match a bathroom break match.

Booker T w/ Sharmell d. Christian
The reaction of the crowd was mixed in between cheering for Booker T and Christian. However, I was the only person chanting of "Charmin" through the match.

Heidenreich & Animal d. "MNM" Mercury & Nitro w/Melina in a WWE Tag Team Championship Match
Special Guest Announcers: Stacy Keibler & Jillian Hall
So, Stacy Keibler moves from managing "World Tag Champs" Hurricane & Rosey to be in the corner of "WWE Tag Champs" Heidenreich & Animal. Hopefully, she won't become the new "Sunny" in LOD.

Randy Orton (w/o Bob Orton) d. Rey Mysterio
This match was good but after seeing 3 WWE divas in the ring most of the talk in my section was, which diva would pose in Playboy next? Are thoughts were that it was between 3 Divas: Victoria, Lita or Lilian Garcia (who you would never think would do Playboy).

Batista d. JBL in a World Championship Match

while Undertaker will be carrying the flag into the ring. The boxing
www.secondsout.com web site in describing Christian, called him "a

smaller fighters like boxing promotions do, and Christian has been
held back by his bosses despite the fact he's probably the most

Christian's Merchandise Update

Apparently an area worker in Washington DC has the right to the "Captain Charisma" name, which is why Christian does not have any shirts for sale. The odd thing is that Christian wore a "Captain Charisma" shirt on SmackDown last week and on his personal bio page on WWE.com, it says, "Get Captain Charisma merchandise", which takes you to a page with nothing Christian.

From Dave Schere @ PWInsider.com

As we mentioned on our Elite hot news hotline yesterday, a number of people have told us that Christian is definitely showing the effects backstage of getting taken to the cusp of a big push, only to have it taken away. He's still a professional and does his job, but people have been telling me that there has been a noticeable change in him since the company seemed ready to push him as a top guy, only to then take it all away. A lot of people in the company don't understand it, since Christian was doing everything right and creative, once again, dropped the ball.

Speaking of creative, it's probably safe to say that the majority of the workers on the roster have no faith in them or the process itself. A few weeks ago, before the last round of talent cuts, Vince McMahon gave a speech in the locker room where he told people to step up. The joke then was that there is no way to do that since creative controls everything about them, right down to what they can say on interviews, provided they even get the chance to do interviews. Some creative team members say that it's the talent's fault for not getting themselves over, but that is complete BS since they can only do what they creative allows them to do.

WWE's Christian to battle in triple threat at Civic Center

World Wrestling Entertainment describes its superstar, Christian, as smug and immensely confident.

The 31-year-old wrestler says that's an accurate assessment, even beyond the ropes.

"My character is an extension of my real self," Christian said. "Whether people want to cheer or boo, it's all up to them. As long as they're reacting in some way, it's all worth it."

Christian is one of the headliners for the WWE Smackdown non-televised event at the
Charleston Civic Center Monday. The man known as "Captain Charisma" will take part in a triple threat match, facing off against Orlando Jordan and Rey Mysterio, Jr. for the U.S heavyweight title.

I Just came back from Eaton Center. Everyone was chanting “Christian Champion!” He talked about his match this Sunday with Chris Jericho and John Cena for the WWE title. I was a little bit surprised everyone boo when Christian mentioned Jericho and Cena. Toronto is probably the only place these 2 names get booed. I didn’t stay for the entire Q&A session. But I did hear the first question. Someone asked Christian if he gets drafted to SD!, who is the first one he wants to have a match with. Surprisingly, Christian said it’s Booker T. Christian said it’s not because Booker was there with him at the Eaton Center. He said he watched Booker wrestle most of his career and had a lot of respect for him.

Mike Cunha sent this one, which is a good thing because I know nothing about this kind of stuff! ... WWE has a collectible card game called "Raw Deal". A set of cards for Christian is going to be released in early October, and he was to be referred to as Captain Charisma. Well, WWE has now told Comic Images (the makers of the game) that he now has to be referred to as CLB and if you check Shopzone, all Captain Charisma merchandise has been removed. It's kind of weird considering how over he is, to suddenly pull his merchandise. Captain Charisma's cards were the most anticipated cards of the new Raw Deal set entitled: Unforgiven. In a poll to determine which order the cards would be spoiled on the Official Yahoo Group of over 3000 members, Captain Charisma beat Batista, Immortal Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper and a few others.

Christian then said he was going to list the impressive things Booker T has done lately, but couldn't think of any. Christian asked what he had done lately, and Sharmell actually said it was a good question. Booker said he beat Christian at the Great American Bash and beat up Kurt Angle when he put his hands on Sharmell. Booker got mad at Sharmell for siding with Christian. At the SmackDown! taping this week, there was
apparently no Christian shirts for sale in the entire
building. A vendor at the show stated that WWE didn't
think Christian shirts would be a good seller, even
though she had been asked about them all night.

Big WWE Star Injured Over The Weekend
Written by Andy Steven on August 14, 2005 at 17:32:36

This is a report from the WWE house show in London Ontario. It appears Christian suffered a legit injury and we'll have more on this later.

From PWInsider

WWE United States Championship
Orlando Jordan vs. Booker T (with Sharmell)
Nice match back and forth, with Christian running from the crowd to beat up Booker T. Rey Rey makes the save and they challenge to a tag match. They accept after a while but walk away. Rey and Booker chase them and bring them back to the ring. Good match, but a freak accident occurred when Booker attempted the double Scissor Kick on OJ/Christian. Christian's head was instantly sandwiched between both of Booker's boots and immediately had a crimson mask. The ref threw the X sign up. Booker and Mysterio win, and Christian came in front of us to get OJ with Blood just oozing out of his face.

This does appear to be a legit injury but it is not expected that he'll miss much in-ring time.

This week on Smackdown! Christian's guest on "The Peep Show" will be World Heavyweigh Champion Batista, who he will later face in the main event.

Christian evolves into single star

Christian has come a long way in seven years.

He and Edge debuted for WWE as members of the black-clad silent faction known as The Brood. On Oct. 18, 1998 at the Judgment Day pay-per-view the little known Canadian-born won the Light Heavyweight Championship from Taka Michinoku.

Today he stands at the forefront of the Smackdown! brand -- and he's known as Captain Charisma.

"This just seems to be my time. I'm on a good streak and I want it keep it going and keep it fresh," Christian said via telephone Thursday as he and his fellow Smackdown! superstars prepare to invade Columbus on Aug. 9.

"I want to take advantage of the push I've been given and develop my character to the fullest."

What did he do, spill coffee on Vince McMahon?

Can anyone explain what has been going on with Captain Charisma? He cuts some great promos to build up a feud with John Cena, a program that you may have missed if you blinked. Then Christian gets put on Smackdown, and his first appearance ends with JBL squashing him because Christian, for no rhyme or reason, stared at Booker T as he left the ring. Now, he is given a talk show segment, but rather than allowing him to introduce the concept, they go right to his first guest, Rey Mysterio. Then, at the end of the night, Rey Mysterio, with all the mental anguish of his son not speaking and his arch rival threatening to turn his world upside down again, manages to beat Christian clean in the middle. In the span of a few weeks, Christian has gone from the cusp of a main event push to being a mid-card enhancement talent. He earned his chance at the top (that he never got), and he deserves better than this.

A number of sources within WWE have been very vocal as of late as to how noticeably unhappy Christian has appeared backstage at SmackDown events in the past few months. He has continued to act professional among those he works with, but has made it quite known that he was upset with his push on RAW being downgraded when he was "drafted" to the SmackDown brand this past summer.

The LAW cancels Christian's Interview

From yesterday's update on The LAW site:
I spoke to both Christian and Booker T in the media scrum. Nothing too noteworthy, Christian wouldn't comment on the Matt Hardy video being played on "Raw" when I asked him about that. When I brought up the JBL / Blue Meanie situation at the ECW PPV, Christian wasn't sure what happened and Booker just laughed and said "He Got Hit".

"The LAW is currently working on something HUGE this Sunday night! It's so huge we had to forego our Booker T & Christian interviews for this weekend. Stay tuned as we attempt to finalize these plans and the fans of The LAW will be the first to know!"

Catfights and chaos whip Calgary fans into a frenzy
By TJ MADIGAN - Calgary Sun

Unfortunately, the Calgary crowd is tough to predict and when Victoria pummelled Christy Hemme, the arena erupted in cheers.

The match of the night was a tables bout between Chris Benoit and Edge.

Benoit -- who claims Edmonton as his home but spent much of his wrestling career in Calgary -- was a heavy crowd favourite.

After a series of intense near falls, Edge got the win after he power bombed Benoit through a table -- with a little help from some fellow bad guys.

The entire Raw event was heavy on backstage interviews, with a dull five-minute promo from Triple H and an only slightly more interesting backstage piece with Edge and Lita.

Things finally livened up when Christian made a surprise appearance. The Toronto native gave a fun speech about his impending move to Smackdown and was a big favourite with the crowd, even though he's supposed to be a heel.

What You Didn’t See On WWE RAW Last Night

Credit: Stevie J | PWInsider.com

The Qwest Center filled up very quickly once the doors opened. I’d say there was a packed house even before the first dark match took place.

None of the WWE souvenir stands had Christian t-shirts for sale, which I thought was very strange since one of the marquee matches going on was Christian vs. Ric Flair. This was obviously a huge mistake on WWE’s part. I don’t know how well it came off on TV but there were a TON of Christian signs in the Qwest Center, including my homey Kevin’s “I’m a member of the Christian Coalition” and a huge five piece sign that said “O M A H A” on the first row and “P E E P S” on the row underneath..

The dark match afterwards was Christian v. Batista. A lot of comedy spots with both men trying to pop the crowd, and Batista showing up Christian time after time. The match ended with a demon bomb and Batista got a huge ovation, going all the way around ringside to hi-five people (but unfortunately nobody along the ramp where we were sitting).

Matt Hardy talks about Christian in recent interview

Matt puts over Christian big time and says he is still friends with him. Matt talks about how himself and Christian were always in the same situation starting with WWE because they were both the less credited wrestlers on their tag teams.

CHRISTIAN’S CHANCE
APRIL 25, 2005

Last week Christian told Mr. McMahon he would have no problem winning the WWE Championship if he were traded to SmackDown! during next month’s draft.

Well, Mr. McMahon told Christian he wouldn’t have to wait that long to face a champion, placing Captain Charisma in a match against World Heavyweight Championship Batista in the United Kingdom.

Plus, what could be the fallout after Jim Ross scored an improbable upset victory over Triple H last week thanks to some timely help from Batista?

Also, don’t miss any final details regarding Backlash, which takes place live on pay-per-view on Sunday, May 1.

Christian returning to house shows this weekend?.
PWInsider....

As we mentioned earlier, for tonight’s Raw brand house show in Colorado Springs, CO, WWE has changed the card so that the first ever match between Triple H and Randy Orton will take place on the card. It had previously been scheduled for Orton vs. Chris Benoit and Triple H vs. Eugene but WWE made the change to give Orton and H time to work together and prepare for their match at next month’s PPV. The rest of the card has Chris Benoit vs. Kane, Edge vs. Batista, Rhyno and Tajiri vs. La Resistance, Victoria vs. Molly Holly, Shelton Benjamin vs. Rodney Mack (with Jazz), Maven vs. Chuck Palumbo, Val Venis vs. Simon Dean, Eugene and William Regal vs. Christian and Tyson Tomko.

Christian is pretty much ready to return from his injury but was held off the Summerslam buildup since he wasn’t scheduled to be involved in the PPV in any sort of wrestling capacity.

August 7, 2004
  • "Christian is just about ready to return, but they look to be holding it off for a few weeks because there's no point in putting him on TV before SummerSlam since he doesn't have a program. He is booked with Edge on some-house shows in a few weeks, but that could mean nothing."
  • Thank You Vicki from AdamCopelandFanClub@yahoogroups.com
  • Christian had his Appearance today at Edmonton, Alberta I hope he had a wonderful turn out.

July 22, 2004 - Christian Injury Update
Christian is now going to be out of action until at least August due to his back problems. People close to him say that he’s extremely down on himself because he felt the injury happened at the worst possible time - just as his pairing with Trish Stratus was gaining steam.

July 21, 2004 - WWE DoR Profile: Christian
June 28, 2004 - The World Wrestling Entertainment, which is commonly known as the WWE for short, is overrun with big-name superstars and all of them are competing for the top spot. These are the entertainment giants that rattle the rings and spit rage on the sweaty battle mat every weekend. And when they're not going to-to-toe in televised matches across the nation, they can often be found fighting it out on the television screens of videogame players everywhere. The digital recreations of the WWE, in fact, have become every bit as popular as the entertainment itself. http://acehearts42.tripod.com/id27.html

Christian will be having an autograph signing on August 7th at Edmonton, Alberta.  The signing with be at 2 p.m. at Toys "R" Us, 13029-97 Street.  This is part of The Road To SummerSlam Tour.

Christian and I currently hold the WWE record for maintaining the longest full-time schedules without missing any time, including major injuries: 5 1/2 years. Ive been working through my MCL injury, while Christian is currently attempting to battle a bad back. Weve been competing to see who could work the longest without time off, but our bump cards are catching up to us.

Due to back problems suffered a few weeks ago, Christian is being kept off the road. Rest seems as the only cure for his back spasms. He is expected to miss RAW tomorrow night.

Management has been pleased with Christians work and feel they can rely on him as a solid second tier player.

May 18th, 2004 - Christian sidelined with sore back
Christian has been out of action due to a sore lower back. Tyson Tomko took his place at the house shows and management feels he did very well from what I heard. Christian should be back in action in a week or two.
