Fully-Detailed Live Raw and Smackdown Notes

June 27, 2005

Anaheim, Ca. Arrowhead Pond

RAW…

Hey everyone!

I just got back from the RAW and SmackDown! tapings in Anaheim and wanted to share a quick few notes.

Doors opened promptly at 4:30 and to be honest, the Pond security does a much better job than Staple Centers’, as people were able to come in quickly.

WWE was really late on kicking things off tonight. They didn’t start until about 5:40 PM PT (RAW goes live at 6 PM PT here so it’s 9 PM in the east). The WWE history package has been replaced with a familiar one, only this was used to plug WWE 24/7 and it actually features footage from all the other wrestling organizations WWE has in its tape library. Lots of ECW shots, and plenty of WCW ones here.

Maven lost to Val Venis in a dark match that I suppose will end up on Heat? Val scored the pin after the Money Shot. Crowd was very hot for Venis, which was somewhat of a surprise to me.

I was impressed with tonight’s attendance. There were very few empty seats one could spot. Very good turn-out.

Ross and Lawler and walked out to the usual applause. We were told we’re about to go live in less than two minutes, when Coachman’s music played and he was booed heavily on his way to the announce booth.

Flair recieved an amazing amount of cheers in his segment with Angle, as well as later in their match.

The footage from Vengeance had a funny screw-up. The opening shot stood still on the titantron for almost a minute with Jericho’s mouth wide open. Funny. The segment got a lot of laughs.

Big Show got a decent reaction, but nothing over the line, to be honest. That match was ridiculously short. Crowd was mostly dead, but still reacted.

The Michaels/Cena/Maria segment backstage got over huge. Loud cheers for Cena, and then Michaels. Maria is pretty funny at her role. Michaels messed up as he said his “friend” is on the 405 driving down. The 405 leads to the LAX airport, and San Diego, and does NOT go to Anaheim or the Arrowhead Pond. It’s I-5 that goes through Anaheim. Some people caught that in the arena, which caused a laugh.

I was a bit surprised, but Masters’ entrance got over with the crowd (not sure if it was televized). He received lots of heat, although it was hard to tell if it was good heel heat, or X-Pac type of heat. People were waiting for the mist.

They set up for the Cabana, with lots of cheers for the set-up alone.

Carlito came out to a great response. Once he got on the mic, some boos could be heard, but people were mostly cheering for him. That kid’s character is really working. HUGE ovation for RVD. It was pretty loud.

Angle and Flair was booked like a good ol’ rasslin’ fight. The mouth hooks, nose-picking, and balls-grabbing (yes, you did just read that) got over huge with the crowd. It was quite interesting, to say the least. The heat on Angle was big here. Flair was super over once again.

The SmackDown! Rebound did NOT air in the arena. The opening flash of the SmackDown! logo did, then the titantron went blank.

Up to this point, every backstage segment of the Diva Search contenders had gotten pretty decent pops and cheers. The Diva Search segment was not successfull, and based on how it started, this year might be worse than last. Anyway… Vis got a decent pop, but then the segment died again, until Slaughter kind of saved things at the end.

Grisham’s interview with Batista god a huge pop for the champ. The Jericho/Christian/Tomko segment was absolutely hilarious and the fans bought it up. The Nash reference was priceless. As the segment ended, people actually were expecting The Rock. They didn’t realize that the Hollywood reference was to Hogan. A Rocky chant broke out.

Vince McMahon walked out in the commercial break to remind us that there’s two hours of WWE SmackDown! action coming up, with the crowning of the brand new SmackDown! Champion!

John Cena got the biggest ovation of the night, which was deafening. Wow. He is indeed becoming the man around here. Of course, his ovation was overshadows by Hogan. I’d say the cheers for him beat out the cheers Rock got last time when he returned to help out Foley against La Resistance in the same building. Sickening loud!

After Cena bowed down to Michaels and Hogan, the two posed a bit more and went to the back.

SmackDown…

After RAW, it took them literally five minutes to change the set for SmackDown! That caught a lot of people off-guard, including myself, as we headed to grab some food and drinks hoping there would be an intermission. I missed an Undertaker/Hassan/Daivari beatdown, but Undertaker’s entrance got over huge (I was outside getting a drink and could hear it as if I were inside!) From what I understand, ‘Taker just beat the two up, which was the reason we never saw Daivari again.

Paul London vs. Chavo Guerrero was next. It ended with Mexicool interfering and beating them up to a very loud ovation. These guys are amazing. They breathe so much life and heat into their segments, that you’re affraid a riot will happen. They were pretty controversial, saying that Mexicans should start the revolution against “The Gringos.” This trio has a lot of potential on SmackDown!. They were driving some hilarious ATV-like vehicles that looked like mawn lawers. They went as fast as 10 mph, perhaps. Pretty funny.

Backstage segment with Melina and MNM. Melina was stretching with Nitro and Mercury checking out her ass. She asked them to stop and then named celebrities that came to see her debut. Nick and Jessica are here, apparently. Ashlee couldn’t make it. That was a fun segment.

Melina over Michelle McCool. Lame match. MNM came out afterwords to celebrate with Melina, who’s very over. She demands a Snapshot on McCool. MNM does it. Heidenreich hit the ring for the save.

They played a video package from Be Cool. It was Rock’s music video with the country outfit. It got over well. It was to plug the DVD, which comes out tomorrow. Also, throughout the night, they played plugs for the ECW DVD, which comes out tomorrow.

There was a segment with Guerrero where he showed a video of him with Mysterio’s Son Dominick. He then said he has a secret to tell him, and asked if Dominick likes bed stories. He told him he had a bed story to tell him that he will never forget. The segment was very disturbing. Mysterio came out and begged Eddie not to say what the secret is. Guerrero said “Just as I thought” and walked out. Mysterio sat there depressed forever, until a beach ball started making its rounds in the crowd, and nobody cared. I believe they were going with a storyline where it turns out Guerrero is Dominick’s real father. It was very disturbing, and odd. There was some horrible innuendo.

That was it. The Six-Men Elimination was announced next. JBL, Hassan, Booker T, and Benoit came out in that order. Long came out after them and said that since Big Show went to RAW, he’s going to make the fourth draft lottery pick replace him. It was Christian, who came out with different tights to a loud ovation. ‘Taker’s music was next, with only two gongs, and the lights came out for him to show up in the ring. Everyone cleared the ring except Christian. Hilarious stuff here. Christian played it off great, being a wuss at first, then trying to laugh it off with ‘Taker. He finally hit him, which lead to ‘Taker throwing him around, but not for too long. Christian tagged in Hassan. Again, very funny spot due to Hassan’s reaction.

This match lasted about 40 minutes. It was incredibly long. I have to say it was booked very well, although there were a very few boring spots.

Undertaker was eliminated first, after he went on the outside and hit Hassan with a steel chair (brutal chair shot to the head), then to the back. Hassan wasn’t eliminated, technically, but never came back. I’m sure that will be used for storyline purposes next week.

That left Benoit, Booker, Christian, and JBL. Weird elimination was Benoit going out next. I believe JBL eliminated him, but I do not recall. At this point in the match, it came down to Booker, JBL, and Christian, with mostly Booker and JBL working since Christian had worked the RAW main event.

Awfully obvious here was that the crowd wanted Christian to win and he was the most over out of all six guys in the first place, perhaps except Benoit (he got a huge pop too).

Christian tried to play possom, tagging in and out after big moves, and trying to eliminate both Booker and JBL. It was fun to see him play heel and face at the same time. He was really over when he was in with JBL. Bradshaw went for a high-impact move on Booker and he connected, but before they landed, Christian slapped JBL on the back to tag in. Booker got up, and Christian quickly grabbed his tights, revealed Booker’s ass, pinned him down holding the tights, and got the three. Booker, Christian, and the Ref were arguing, as JBL recovered and was behind Christian waiting for him to turn for the Clothesline from Hell. He did. JBL hit it and pinned him for the win.

Right after, Long walked out with a cover case for a championship that had the SmackDown! logo on the outside. He said he has some good news, and some bad news for JBL. The bad news is that he’s not the new SmackDown! Champion. In fact, Long said, there’s no need for a SmackDown! Championship in the first place. The good news is, that JBL has won the #1 contender spot and will fight the last pick for SmackDown! in the Draft Lottery - the World Champion, Dave Batista! Batista came out (same costume from RAW) with his belt, to huge pyro and a Cena-like ovation. I’d say just as loud. He posed with the belt in a corner, when JBL hit him from behind. Batista then got the #1 contender out of the ring and posed with the belt. End One Hell of a Night!

WWE RAW Report

Anaheim, Calif-Arrowhead Pond

Report by: pwtorch.com

They went to footage from Sunday night of Christian and Chris Jericho arguing. Bischoff said he was putting those two and Tyson Tomko in a tag match against John Cena where he got to pick his partners. Christian and Jericho said he wouldn’t be able to find a partner because he had no friends on Raw. Bischoff said then it would be a handicapped match.

Christian asked Jericho and Tomko who the final partner was for Cena and Michaels. When Jericho suggested Marty Jannetty, Christian said he heard Jannetty was in jail. When Jericho suggested Kevin Nash, Jericho said Nash would tear a hamstring just picking up the phone. They said since they’re in L.A., perhaps Michaels would call his friend from Hollywood, implying Hulk Hogan.

JOHN CENA & SHAWN MICHAELS & HULK HOGAN vs. CHRIS JERICHO CHRISTIAN & TYSON TOMKO

Ross said he couldn’t believe when he heard Hulk Hogan’s music and then saw him come out. Cena began the match, then tagged in Michaels at 1:00. Michaels worked the opening minutes and took a beating from the heel threesome. Christian mocked Cena with the hand wave in front of his face. Michaels crawled over and hot-tagged Hogan at 5:00. Hogan beat up the heels, made a superman comeback, and gave Tomko a Big Boot and a legdrop for the win. Yes, Hogan can still do the legdrop. Hogan raised the arms of Michaels and Cena. Cena looked wide-eyed. “It makes me feel so young to see Hogan, Cena, and Michaels,” said Ross. “What a night on Monday Night Raw.” Cena and Micheals posed with Hogan. Then Cena stepped out of the ring and let Hogan and Michaels pose together. Michaels wore a Hogan bandana. Ross called it a sign of respect. Cena then bowed on the stage toward Hogan and Michaels. “These are the nights that remind you of why you love the business, why you been a fan all your life,” said Ross. He said he didn’t want the night to end. He said we may never see those three in the ring together again. Ross called it an extraordinary night.

WINNER: Cena at 6:30.

John Cena's music hits and the WWE champion makes his way to the ring! Highlights are shown from last week's incident with Chris Jericho after their tag team victory over Tyson Tomko and Christian. Cena gets on the mic and says he ain't gonna lie, he's only been here for a minute but he's starting to figure out how things work. He says one minute he's teaming with somebody and the next minute his partner is kicking his ass. Cena gets the crowd in Phoenix pumped with some wild west talk before focusing on Jericho. He said Jericho wants the biggest prize in sports entertainment, but there is just one problem, Jericho has seen nothing yet! Cena says Jericho wants to make it personal, so if he's going to do it, he might as well do it right. Cena calls Jericho out and then says he hasn't forgotten about Christian either. He says forget Vengeance, they are gonna do it real big right now! You want some, come get SOME! Cena stands in the ring waiting and the music of Muhammed Hassan hits.

Jericho is with Todd in the back who asks him if his interest in wrestling has increased since he has a world title shot now. Jericho says of course it has. He says Cena's album is flying off the charts because he is the champion, well after he becomes the champion this Sunday, Fozzy's album sales will soar! Jericho then talks about how he had to attack Cena to take things into his own hands because he has not had a one on one title shot in 3 years. Christian shows up and says that Cena might not even be the champion at Vengeance and Jericho is over looking Hassan as well as himself. Christian says the last time Jericho over looked him he lost at WrestleMania 20. Christian says while Jericho dreams on the road about Fozzy going platinum, he will be going gold at Vengeance. He then says both Cena and Jericho's CDs suck!

On the way up the ramp, Cena gets jumped by Chris Jericho. Cena fights back but Christian shows up and the two men fight over stomping on Cena. They meet face to face and Christian backs off. Jericho kicks Cena in the ribs and picks up his WWE title. He stares into it as WWE head to a commercial break. '

Eric Bischoff is rubbing his wounds as The Coach comes in and starts to talk. Bischoff says it never happened, the whole night never happened, and he never wants to hear of ECW again. Jericho comes in and asks why Christian is the number one contender for the WWE title. Bischoff says it is true and at Vengeance it will be Christian vs. John Cena for the WWE Title. Jericho says he is going to beat Christian's ass tonight and prove he is better.

Tyson Tomko and Christian vs. John Cena and Chris Jericho

Christian and
Jericho tie it up and Jericho hits an early headlock takedown early. He goes for the walls of Jericho early and almost gets them but Christian kicks him off. Tomko is tagged in and Jericho chops away at him before hitting a dropkick. Cena is tagged in and he brawls all over Tomko with rights and lefts to the body of Tomko. Cena hits a reverse elbow followed by a vertical suplex for a two count.

Cena ducks a blow and hits an inverted bulldog from the top rope on Tomko. He clotheslines him over the top rope and Christian hits the ring but
Jericho meets him with a boot to the gut. Cena and Jericho lift Christian up and they throw him over the top rope onto Tomko! WWE go to a commercial break as Cena and Jericho
stand tall.

When we come back live John Cena is in trouble with Christian but he hits a shoulder block and mounts a comeback with clubbing blows to Christian's head. Cena nails another shoulder block and gets a two count.
Jericho tags himself in and mounts Christian to pummel him. Tomko hits the ring but Jericho nails him with a spinning heel kick. Jericho then goes for Christian who is on the outside for some reason. Jealous? This allows Tomko to hit a big boot and Jericho
gets in deep trouble outside the ring.

Back in the ring Tomko controls
Jericho with clubbing blows. Christian comes in and knocks Jericho down with a right hand. He places Jericho in a rear chin lock. The crowd gets behind Y2J and he gets to his feet. He fights and sweeps the legs of Christian but he jumps on him and punches him instead. Jericho gets to his feet but he does not tag even though Cena is calling for it. Christian nails a reverse DDT and Tyson Tomko chokes the crap out of Jericho as Christian taunts Cena. Finally Jericho
hits an inzeguiri on Tomko who went for a gutwrench powerbomb. He makes the tag!

Cena comes in with a major head of steam and cleans house with powerful hiptosses and more. He drops Tomko and Christian comes off the top rope but Cena punches him in the gut.
Jericho
takes Christian out of the ring with a clothesline and he follows. Cena drops Tomko with the spinning back drop and then nails the five knuckle shuffle! Cena executes the FU on Tomko and makes the pin!

Winners: John Cena and Chris Jericho

After the match, Cena is holding his title and taking in the fans when
Jericho attacks him from behind! Jericho clubs him and sending him out of the ring where he smashes his head off the security rail and ring post. Jericho slaps on the walls of Jericho and will not let go even after a few officials beg him to. Finally Jericho lets go of the hold. He grabs Cena's title and takes a long hard look at it as the fans chant "Jericho sucks!"

Highlights of the Diva Search are shown and afterwards we cut to Chris Jericho running to Bischoff saying he made things personal and he deserves the match now! Bischoff says he is convinced and Christian shows up and complains. Bischoff says it will be a triple threat match. Both men seem alright with it and then John Cena attacks Chris Jericho from behind and beats the CRAP out of him. Cena says he will take all of them. He screams that he will make it personal and if they want to go to war he will take them to war! Eventually officials pull Cena off of Jericho.

Highlight Reel w/ the first draft pick...

Chris Jericho's music hits and he makes his way to the ring for the Highlight Reel special edition where he will have the first pick in the draft!
Jericho welcomes the fans and says this is THE night. He says because tonight Fozzy plays live across the street after the show! Oh, and it's the first night of the draft lottery as well. In just moments a Smackdown superstar will head to the ring to make their debut on the Highlight Reel! He says he doesn't know how the impact will be compared to his. Jericho says he doesn't know who it is, but let's get down to it...

The first pick in the draft lottery is...... (long pause) holy crap. IT'S JOHN CENA.

Cena comes to the ring as a million questions run through the heads of millions of WWE fans world wide. The
St. Louis crowd is insane as Cena shakes Chris Jericho's hand. The crowd chants as Jericho says he cannot believe it and how could this happen? Cena says every member of both rosters, nobody is safe, he got the call and John Cena is officially Raw. The champ is herrrrrrr. Jericho points out that there are two champions on one show and the last time that happened, he beat them both and became the first ever undisputed champion. Jericho then talks about Cena and how he is a little ahead of him musically, but it's ok kid, because he has potential. Jericho says he has to go for it, full force, even if it means alienating wrestling fans. Cena says the only reason he is here is because of these people. Cena then does his "You want some" bid and Christian's music hits and HE comes to the ring!

Christian has no robe, just a black T-shirt on. He walks in the ring and grabs a mic. Tomko looks on as usual. Christian says his eyes must be deceiving him because John Cena is on Raw. He says he heard the cheers and they sounded like the cheers they used to give another fraud in this town.. Mark McGuire? He said Mark made these people look like complete morons just like he is going to right now. Christian says it won't take an act of congress to expose Cena as a fraud. He says this is his show and tells Cena to take a stroll. Then he says "
Canada in the house, cuz that's how I roll." Cena asks Jericho if it is alright to handle his business. Cena mocks Christian and them rhymes in creepy little bastard on him. He then mocks a rap on the Brood saying he couldn't cut. Gangrel was sucking blood, he was sucking something else. Cena then raps some more, it's real good funny stuff actually. He says he's going to lay it down and since it's the highlight reel they must be the assclowns. He then calls Tomko Christian's life partner. He tears them up and says he would beat both their asses. He says he better pray they switch shows and for old times sake, here's a 5 second pose. Cena poses with you can;t see my style and then moves all his fingers until his middle one is left up. Christian slaps him and a brawl ensues. Cena bumps Christian over the top rope and Jericho cracks Tomko with a punch and that leads to an FU on Tomko by Cena!

Backstage, Bischoff was with some guy and told him that if Heyman wants a fight, he will give him one hell of a fight tonight. He then walked into his office and Cena was on the couch. Bischoff said it was great to have him on RAW and Cena said it's great to be here. Bischoff said he has a great idea for the main event next week, Cena teaming with Chris Jericho to take on Christian and Tyson Tomko! Bischoff said they could have a great relationship, but Cena said that ain't his thing. Bischoff said it would be his honor for Cena to join the ECW crusade, but Cena said no. Cena said he don't play politics and said him and his boys used to watch Nitro and then turned over at 9 when RAW started. Cena said he has four draft picks left, and to see one of them, because you can't see me.

Bischoff Challenges ECW:

Bischoff comes to the ring with Tyson Tomko, Edge, and Christian. Bischoff says he showed up with the Dudley Boyz? That's it? He says all he is doing is making their jobs that much easier. He says tonight they will take him out and they won't have to show up at One Night Stand. After tonight, whatever crumbs are left, they can just feed to Smackdown and they will kill the rest off. "ECW" chants start up again. Bischoff says he knows Heyman is back there and he is going to do something most would never thought he'd do. He calls Heyman out. Heyman and The Dudley Boys are shown and they seem to be leaving the building. Bubba hits stuff as Bischoff smiles. But they do NOT leave the building. They look pumped up as Heyman grabs a mic and they climb over the rail and stand in the rampway. Heyman says he keeps making the same mistake over and over and over again by making it about Paul Heyman, but it isn't about him. It's about ECW. Heyman talks about how Bischoff had millions of dollars and all kinds of stuff but they never had the bond with the fans that ECW had. Heyman says that ECW never backed down to ANYONE. The Dudley Boys slide in the ring and stare down Tomko, Christian, and the rest. Bischoff says "Oh really?" Well maybe you'll just back down from this. Many more wrestlers come from the Raw locker room including Maven, La Resistance, and a few others. Heyman says "Eric, I guess you didn't hear me, ECW backs down from NOBODY." He points to the crowd and down come Dreamer, Rhyno, Sandman, Balls Mahoney, and Axl Rotten! Heyman says they never back down from a fight! A brawl ensues. Coach gets whacked with a chair, Sandman wails people with a cane, Dreamer canes a few people, Rhyno gores Edge! Maven is surrounded and he is tied upside down in the tree of woe by Balls Mahoney. A Chair is held in front of his face and Dreamer gives it a baseball slide. The Dudley Boys then give him a 3-D! Drowning Pool plays as ECW stands tall in the Raw ring!

With it being Memorial Day, tonight’s show is dedicated to the men and women of the United States Armed Forces, who defended our freedom to their deaths. Vince McMahon narrates a small passage talking about the people who fight for the US and then a video package also airs.

Christian Interview
-The fans cheerly loudly for Christian, who tells American to take note because this is how you should greet a superstar like him. Christian says the draft is next week and he’s been looking at the Smackdown! roster and they’re missing something. They’ve got Americans, Mexicans, Japanese, Frenchmen, a Giant, a stutterer, a Deadman, a rapping hip-hop poser champion…but what they’re missing is a Canadian. Christian concludes by relating the three C’s: Canadian, Charisma and Christian.

The highlight of show for me, HANDS DOWN, was Christian. Though I felt a little akward booing the “Mexicans”… They need to get him to Smackdown and elevate him one way or another. Christian electrified the crowd tonight with his little speech. He even got most of the crowd to boo Cena.

Benoit, Christian, Jericho, Storm all got huge responses. Benoit got a big one during the commercial break after that awful Invasion of the WWE jobbers angle that saw Benoit go through a table.

Christian and Tomko are looking over the Smackdown! roster and Christian says that Smackdown! needs some charisma. Edge and Lita walk in and propose a deal to Christian that if he helps Edge win the title tonight, he wouldn’t need his money in the bank contract and he would give to Christian, if he wins, since odds are that Christian will remain on RAW. Christian seems to accept.

World Title Match:
Edge vs. Batista
Batista gains the early advantage using his strength advantage. Batista knocks Edge to the outside which prompts Christian and Tomko to make their way out to ringside as we cut to a commercial. We come back from commercial with Batista still in control of the match. Lita distracts the ref which allows Christian to interfer. Edge rams Batista shoulder first into the steel ring post. Edge tries to win the match with a modified sleeper hold but Batista gets out. Edge regains the advantage by executing a standing dropkick. Edge attempts a high risk maneuver, but Batista catches him on the top and hits a superplex from the top rope. Edge attempts a flying forearm, but Batista ducks only to have Edge catch the ref. Batista signals for the powerbomb, but Tomko and Christian interfer. Edge, Christian and Tomko triple team Batista until Flair makes the save. Flair’s momentum is short lived as Edge hits him with a spear. Batista gets back to his feet and eliminates Christian and Tomko, only to be hit with a spear from Edge, but Batista kicks out. Edge grabs his briefcase and tries to hit Batista, but Batista counters with a spinebuster. Batista hits his sitdown powerbomb for the win. After the match, Batista helps Flair up and they both embrace in the middle of the ring. Triple H’s music hits and out comes the game sledgehammer in hand. As
Triple H is making his way to the ring, Flair hits Batista with a low blow. Triple H enters the ring and hits Batista in the head with the sledgehammer. Triple H grabs the mic and asks Batista if he’ll fight him now. Triple H then responds with “Hell in a Cell”. Trips finishes Batista off with Pedigree on top of the World Title.
Winner: Batista

Christian vs. Ric Flair
Christian takes down Flair earlier with a shoulder block and mocks Flair with a strut of his own. Flair gets clotheslined to the outside and Tomko makes his presence felt by ramming Flair into the ring. Flair gains control with a few chops and attempts a figure four leg lock. Tomko intervenes and breaks the hold with a straight right hand to the head of Flair. Christian rolls up Flair and tries to get the three using the ropes but the ref catches him. Flair counters and uses the ropes as well as the tights to get the win. After the match, Tomko and Christian attack Flair, until Batista makes the save. Batista powerbombs both Christian and Tomko and leaves as Flair makes his way back to his to feet and looks on.
Winner: Ric Flair

Christian and Tomko are shown backstage questioning why Batista inteferred. Maria interrupts the two and asks Christian if he’s hurt. Christian tells her he is hurt and tells her to get lost. Christian then tells Tomko that it’s not over with Batista.

Flair is then shown backstage on his cell phone leaving a message for Triple H. Christian, along with Tomko, approach Flair and tell him not to worry about Trips being gone because there’s another superstar who Flair can suck up to, Christian. Flair then tells Christian that today is the wrong day to piss him off and that they will have a match later tonight. Christian and Flair get into a “Woo” contest which Flair obviously wins.

Flair comes out followed by Christian who is in non-wrestling gear. Christian tells Flair that he has become a problem and since he has his own problem solver, he has to beat Tomko before he can face Christian.

Tyson Tomko vs. Ric Flair
-Flair starts off in control and quickly straps in the figure four leg lock. While the ref is checking on Tomko, Christian slides into the rings and breaks the submission hold. While Christian is trying to get of the ring, he gets caught by the ref who ejects him from ringside. With the ref distracted by Christian, Flair hits a low blow and rolls Tomko up for the win.

Winner: Ric Flair

Three matches were announced for next week. Benjamin & Jericho vs. Hassan & Daivari, Ric Flair vs. Christian and the Gold Rush tournament finals.

Kane vs. Christian

Christian's music hits as Lilian Garcia announces him to the ring. He has no idea who his opponent will be. The fire explodes and it will be KANE.

The start:

The two man stand toe to toe. Christian talks a lot of trash and they lock up. Kane chucks Christian out of the ring with one single chuck. Christian regroups and climbs in the ring, he ducks a blow and punches away at Kane before getting a big boot and a clothesline sending him to the outside!

Mid match notes:

Kane flips over the ropes after Christian but Tomko sticks his nose in allowing Christian to drop toe hold Kane into the ring steps. Tomko lifts him and Kane throws him but Christian comes off the top rope with a cross body block. Christian whacks away at Kane before lifting him and devliering chops. Kane fights back with two right hands but Christian puts him in the corner for a stomping and foot choke. Christian goes behind Kane and drops him with a reverse DDT for a two count. Christian goes to take the turnbuckle pad off but Kane sits up and takes two blows before delivering a clothesline and a huge flapjack followed by a clothesline in the corner. Christian gets a boot up but Kane slaps on the chokeslam. Christian evades it and gets a choke/headlock on Kane's back. Kane reverses it into a sidewalk slam.

The Finish:

Kane goes to the top rope but Tomko shoves him off. Christian goes for the unprettier but Kane throws him against the rope and goes for the tombstone but Christian falls out and thumbs his eye. He tries to toss Kane into Tomko's boot but Kane reverses and throws Christian into Tomko. Christian bounces off and Kane slaps him in the chokeslam, he drops and pins him!

Winner: Kane; Christian is Eliminated

After the match:

Tomko tries to get involved but Kane chokeslams him to the mat! Christian is backstage holding his neck when Ric Flair approaches. Flair tells him he lost and he was rapping at Backlash last night. Flair then raps and says "You just lost kid, so take it from the Naitch, the winner of this torunament will be HHH!" WHOOOOOOOO.

We return to the arena and Christian and Tyson Tomko are in the locker room. Christian tells Tomko to follow the plan. From out of nowhere, Ric Flair comes in and tells Christian and Tomko that it is all about Hunter tonight. Flair tells Christian and Tomko that they will do whatever it takes to put Batista out of action and let Hunter give Batista the Pedigree. Christian tells Flair that Hunter will do nothing. Christian gives Flair his jacket back. Flair tells Christian to look behind him, but Flair tells Christian he was kidding. Christian wants to work with Flair and blames the earlier problems on Tomko. Flair goes in the Evo-Locker Room and closes the door. The door opens and Hunter emerges. Christian wants to know how Trips is doing. Hunter didn’t like the Michael Cole comment. Hunter gives Coach a shirt. Ric Flair is the guest time keeper, Coach will be the guest referee. Tonight, Triple H will be Christian’s problem solver for one night. Coach wants to call Eric to make sure everything is OK. Hunter tells Coach that he does not have a lot of patience for announcers so the only permission that Coach needs is Hunter’s. I

In the arena:

The music of Christian hit in the arena as he made his way to the ring with Tyson Tomko. Christian grabbed the mic and said that he expected a little bit more from the Christian Coalition in NYC. He said he heard the little ovation Hogan got earlier, but did Hulk Hogan beat Chris Benoit last week on RAW like Captain Charisma? Christian said he wants a proper ovation, but then the music of Vince McMahon hit! Vince McMahon strutted down to the ring. McMahon grabbed the mic and said he can’t stand is someone who comes out here and talks but doesn’t say a damn thing. Vince said he chose this moment as his first appearance since the Rumble and then Tomko grabbed a mic for Christian. Christian said Vince must have wanted to come out here to congratulate him for his big win last week. Vince said Stone Cold was right when he labelled him a CLB. Vince said he is out here to make an announcement for something that last year was momentous. Christian said we already know about the Diva Search. Vince said Christian will be unemployed if he interrupts him again! Vince said this concerns every superstar on RAW and Smackdown! and it’s time to shake things up again! He said they are going to have a good old draft lottery in about a month! Christian said he has been held back on RAW and if he was taken to Smackdown to face John Cena, he would kick Markey Mark’s ass and take his WWE Title because that’s how he rules! Christian said he is championship material and a main eventer and everyone knows it. Vince said next week, Christian is going to be in the main event, it’s going to be Christian, one on one with the World Heavyweight Champion, Batista! Christian seemed pretty happy with that announcement but Tomko didn’t seem too confident!

Chris Benoit vs. Christian (w/ Tyson Tomko):

Looks like Illinois is Peep Country as I saw a lot of Peep signs in the crowd. Before the match starts, Edge comes out with the chair and briefcase in hand and it looks like he’s coming to do some commentary.

Benoit is distracted, and this allows Christian to attack him from behind. Christian wraps Benoit’s injured arm around the ropes, but Benoit is able to come back to mount some offense of his own. Christian is whipped into the corner and is met with a hip toss.

Benoit whips Christian and hits him with the kitchen sink. Benoit punches Christian until Christian hits him in the arm again. Benoit chops Christian to send him sprawling, but Christian recovers and goes back to work on the injured arm.

Christian does some stuff that I missed and it looked like he tried to pin Benoit, but Benoit was able to kick out. The two are exchanging chops with Benoit gaining the upper hand. Christian sends Benoit to the outside and he continues to work on the injured arm before rolling him back in. Christian goes for a pin, but Benoit kicks out.

Christian puts Benoit in a corner and hits him with punches and stomps before standing on him to choke him. Christian goes for more punches and chops, but Benoit reverses it into some of his own. Christian gets whipped into a corner, but Benoit slides out as Christian tries to jump over Benoit. Benoit tries to crotch Christian on the ring post, but he gets distracted by Tomko.

Back in the ring, Christian is able to reestablish some control as he continues to isolate the arm. Christian slams Benoit and goes for a pin, but Benoit kicks out. Christian applies an arm bar and after a while, Benoit begins to fight out of it. Christian bounces off the ropes, but Benoit goes for the Crossface. Christian is able to get out of it and he somehow ends up on the apron. Benoit ends up knocking Christian off the apron to send him into the security barrier.

Benoit stares at Edge as we go to commercial.

Commercial Break

As we return, Christian has a key lock applied to Benoit’s injured arm. Benoit fights out of it and punches Christian. Christian is whipped, but I guess he nailed Benoit’s arm again. Christian goes for a pin, but Benoit kicks out. Christian tries to rip the tape off of Benoit’s arm, but to no avail.

The ref is distracted by Christian trying to remove the turnbuckle pad. As he fixes it, Benoit gets Christian in an inside cradle, but the ref takes too long to count the pin and Christian is able to kick out.

Christian chokes Benoit on the middle rope and as the ref is distracted yet again, Tomko is able to get in a cheap shot. Benoit gets shoved injured arm first into the turnbuckle. Benoit tries to mount some offense until Christian trips him up and tries to pin him, but it’s no good.

Christian applies a hammer lock to Benoit as he lies on the mat. Benoit gets his hand bit, and then the ref breaks it up. Benoit recovers to hit a German suplex and it appears he is bleeding from the mouth. Benoit kicks Christian, but Christian delivers an arm bar takedown using the injured arm of Chris Benoit.

Benoit tries to get up, but Christian slams him back down. Once again Benoit works his way up with the armbar still locked in, and he starts to hit some punches and chops. Benoit ducks two clotheslines, only to have the two men knocked down at the same time as Benoit tried for a shoulder block.

The two exchange blows with Benoit gaining the upper hand. Christian gets nailed in the gut and snap suplexed. Christian tries for an inverted DDT, but Benoit reverses it into a Northern Lights suplex. Christian kicks out of the pin, and Benoit tries to go for a Sharpshooter, but Christian gets to the ropes, only to be pulled up and off the ropes. Benoit puts Christian in a Sharpshooter, but again Christian is able to get to the ropes.

Benoit hits the rolling Germans but he takes a little while to get up. He signals for the flying headbutt, but Tomko tries to get involved. Benoit clocks him and then goes up top. Christian rolls out of the way and both men are down.

Christian grabs Benoit’s tights to go for an Unprettier, but it’s reversed into a Crossface. Edge leaves the announcer’s table with the chair in hand. Tomko tries to get involved, but Benoit breaks up the hold to fight him off and drop Edge with a drop kick, allowing Christian to score with the Unprettier.

Winner: Christian

Chris Jericho nails a cheap shot on Christian and then Y2J and Benjamin double team Christian. Shelton Benjamin hits a clothesline and then Jericho hits a back suplex. The two exchange chops and then Jericho decides to go after Shelton. Y2J hits a low drop kick on Benjamin and then begins the straight right hands.

Y2J picks Benjamin up and chokes him on the middle rope. He whips him across the ring, but Benjamin hits a cross body into a pin cover, but Y2J kicks out. Y2J quickly regains the offensive as he nails a bulldog on Shelton. Y2J goes for a Lionsault, but Christian nails him and tosses him out of the ring. Christian gets hit with an inverted backbreaker and Shelton follows it up with a back boy rop. Christian gets the control with a thumb to the eye and then drops Shelton’s back into the ropes (a reverse whiplash). Christian connects with a neckbreaker and then goes for the cover, but Shelton kicks out.

Christian goes to knock Y2J off the apron, and then goes back to work on Shelton with a backbreaker. Christian goes for the cover, but Shelton kicks out. Christian puts Shelton into a rear chinlock as CLB chants start.

Christian is able to get some control but as he climbs up to the top, Shelton recovers to try for a superplex, but Y2J comes into the ring and delivers a superplex to both Christian AND Shelton Benjamin (we’ve seen this before, but I forgot when it happened).

Y2J goes for a pin on Shelton, but Shelton kicks out. Y2J goes after Christian as he nails an enziguiri on him and then takes out Shelton. Shelton gets covered, but he is able to kick out and Y2J tosses the CLB out of the ring.

Y2J whips Shelton, and Shelton goes for a sunset flip, Y2J counters, and Shelton reverses it into another pin to no avail.

It’s getting hard to keep up, but Y2J goes for a double pin on Shelton and Christian, but they both kick out. Flash forward, Y2J whips Shelton, Shelton reverses, Y2J jumps on the middle rope, but gets T-Boned for his efforts.

Some close calls between Y2J & Christian are going on and Christian attempts an Unprettier, but Y2J counters out, but Christian rolls out. Y2J dropkicks Tomko off the apron and now has Christian in the Walls. Christian struggles to reach the ropes, but Christian gets dragged to the middle. As Christian is ready to tap out, Shelton clotheslines Chris Jericho from the top to win this excellent opening match.

RAW opens with the Highlight Reel and we’re only six days away from Wrestlemania 21. Jericho continues to plug Wrestlemania and how he’ll be making history when he wins the first ever six man ladder match. He then talks about how much he wants to be WWE Champion again and he then introduces his guests, Chris Benoit & Shelton Benjamin.

With his guests in the ring, he tells Benjamin & Benoit that he’ll do whatever it takes to win as it’s every man for himself. It’s Benoit’s turn on the mic. He has a problem with Jericho saying how he’ll be the one to win out of everyone else. Benoit says he won the title last year at WM20 and there’s no greater feeling. He’ll do anything to regain that feeling.

Benjamin says he’s beyond hunger because he’s never been a World champion. He then says that out of everyone in that match, he’s the only one who knows what it feels like to be champion. The trio are interrupted by Christian and Tyson Tomko and he comes out saying that everyone looks full of crap. Christian says his piece and then the faces mock him. They’re next interrupted by Edge, and as long as they’re all coming out to say a little something about their match at Wrestlemania, I’ll be back in a moment to get something to eat. Before I leave, all hell has broken loose and the faces are left standing in the ring.

Six Man Tag

Chris Jericho, Shelton Benjamin, & Chris Benoit vs. Edge, Christian, & Tyson Tomko:

We join this match in progress as we learn Bischoff laid down the law by making this match during the break. Benjamin knocks Christian down with a shoulder block and he makes the cover, but Christian kicks out. Christian is somehow able to make the tag to Tyson Tomko and he tosses Benjamin into his corner. Benjamin fights out of the corner and he whips Tomko, Tomko reverses, and Benjamin knocks Christian off the apron only to be hit with a Tomko power slam. Tomko goes for a pin, but Benjamin kicks out and Edge is tagged in.

Edge works on Benjamin’s back and then chokes him on the middle rope. Edge suplexes Benjamin after taunting Y2J & Benoit and then tags in Christian. Christian whips Benjamin, but Benjamin counters with a cross body. Christian has Benjamin in a front face lock and Benjamin tries to fight out of it, but instead is able to make the tag to Benoit. The ref didn’t see it and Benjamin gets beat down by the heels.

Benjamin is now in a headlock and he is able to fight out of it. Benjamin tries to regain control, but they end up clotheslining each other. Benjamin makes the pin to Benoit and Benoit cleans house. Benoit suplexes Edge and follows it up on Christian. Benoit tries for the rolling Germans, but Edge counters only to get tied up in a Sharpshooter. Christian breaks it up and Benoit ends up hitting the rolling Germans on him instead. Benoit tries for the flying headbutt, but Tomko gets involved and Edge ends up crotching Benoit on the top rope. Edge comes off the top with a superplex as we go to another commercial break.

We’re back and it’s Christian in control of Benoit as he drops an elbow and makes the cover, but to no avail. Christian busts Benoit’s head open even more as he punches it. Benoit fights back with chops and he goes to bounce off the ropes, but he gets nailed with a back elbow. Christian goes for a pin, but it gets broken up.

Christian puts Benoit on the top turnbuckle and he attempts a superplex, but Benoit headbutts him to knock him off. Benoit connects with the flying headbutt and Benoit is bleeding like crazy. Jericho gets tagged in and he cleans house and follows it up with an enziguiri to Tomko. Y2J goes for a cover, but Christian breaks it up. All hell breaks loose as Edge inadvertently spears Tomko, Edge & Christian get into a shoving match, Benoit gets clocked with a Dragon Whip from Benjamin that was intended for Edge, Benjamin hits a T-Bone on Christian, and Y2J gets Tomko to tap out to the Walls

Winner: Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, & Shelton Benjamin

Post-match, Christian assaults Jericho with the ladder, but Kane comes out and wipes the ring with the heels. He climbs the ladder to set off his pyro, and will Kane be the one winning the ladder match this Sunday? Tune into Wrestlemania to find out!

Chris Jericho & Shelton Benjamin vs. Christian (w/ Tyson Tomko) & Edge:

it’s Y2J & Christian starting this match as they begin their paces. Christian whips Y2J, who hits a shoulder block and then goes for a cover, but Christian kicks out. Edge gets in a cheap shot and grabs onto Y2J, but Christian charges and nails Edge after Y2J gets out of the way.

Edge & Christian exchange some words, while Y2J gears up and hits a baseball slide on the trio and Benjamin hits a somersault suicide dive. it appears Edge is now legal as Y2J back suplexes Edge and tags in Benjamin. Benjamin nails a reverse elbow and Edge is now in a corner. Benjamin goes for the 10 punches, but it’s broken up.

Edge is now in control as he stomps on Shelton and he then tags Christian. Christian delivers a neckbreaker and then grabs a hold of him and punches him in the head. He latches on an aggressive chinlock. Benjamin gets out of it, but Christian denies any further control. E&C double team Benjamin in their corner and Christian tags in Edge. Edge takes down Benjamin and then goes into the cover, but Benjamin kicks out. Christian is tagged back in, but Benjamin is able to get some control with a modified backbreaker. Shelton crawls to tag in Jericho and nails a flying heel kick on Christian. Y2J cleans the ring with E&C as he hits a double bulldog and follows it up with a Lionsault on Christian. Y2J gets Edge into the Walls, but breaks it off to hit a springboard dropkick on Tyson Tomko. Y2J gets clocked in the head and both Edge & Y2J are down as we go to commercial.

Y2J & Christian tag in their partners as we return and Benjamin is on a roll as he takes it to Christian and powerslams Edge. Christian sneaks up behind Benjamin, but Benjamin regains control as he hits a Whisper in the Wind-type move as he uses Edge as a springboard into a clothesline on Christian.

Y2J springboards to the outside, only to be met with a knee to the abs from Tomko. Benjamin attempts the T-Bone on Edge, but Christian enters the ring and gets hit with a flapjack. Christian is hit with the Stinger Splash, with Edge sneaking up on him with the Spear, but Benjamin knees him in the chest. The end comes when Benjamin charges after Edge, only to have Edge sidestep him and Christian clocks Shelton Benjamin with the IC belt and Edge scores the win for his team.

Here are your winners: Edge & Christian

Edge & Christian lead a post-match beatdown until Chris Benoit comes out to fend them off. He has the upper hand until Tomko comes in with a ladder and cracks Benoit with it.

We then see Jericho with Benoit, Edge, Christian, and Shelton Benjamin. Bischoff comes in and they’re there about the 6 way ladder match. They’re all participants, and at first, Edge wants nothing to do with it. When Bischoff mentions the World title, Edge changes his mind. The object of the 6 way ladder match will be to climb the ladder and grab the briefcase that will be suspended above the ring. The person who grabs that briefcase will be guaranteed a World title shot, and to further sweeten the deal, the winner can choose when to have that title match, but it has to happen within a year.

Christian (w/ Tyson Tomko) vs. Kane:

Kane is Christian’s surprise opponent for tonight, and I can’t see good things coming from this. I think JR said that Kane will be the sixth man in the six way ladder match.

Christian attacks Kane before he can enter the ring, but Kane overpowers him and he hits the snake eyes. Kane uppercuts Christian and then puts him in a corner to stomp a mudhole. Kane sends him to the opposite end, but Christian ducks out and with the ref’s back turned, Tomko gets in a cheap clothesline.

Christian stomps away at Kane before choking him with his hands. Christian clubs on Kane’s back, but it doesn’t seem to affect Kane a whole heck of a lot. Christian jumps on the back of Kane to latch on a sleeper, and Kane is beginning to fade away. Kane recovers and drops Christian in a sidewalk slam.

Kane whips Christian into a corner and quickly clotheslines him. He whips him to the other end and catches him in a tilt-a-whirl slam. Kane signals for a chokeslam, but Christian ducks out of it and instead gets hit in the face with a boot. Kane goes up top for a clothesline, fighting off Tomko in the process, but Christian ducks out of the way. Kane wins it with a chokeslam.

Winner: Kane

Post-match, Tomko assaults Kane with the ladder and then the duo leave. Kane sits up and he is pissed while Christian looks on with shock.

We then see Christian with Tyson Tomko talking to a Japanese interviewer when they come across Stacy Keibler. Christian says that the interviewer wants to ask her a couple of “Christian” questions. The first question he asks is where he can find Randy Orton. Christian wants to know why he’d be looking for him, and it’s because Christian is annoying. Christian proceeds to talk trash about Orton. Christian tells Stacy to go tell Orton to meet him later in the ring, and Christian decides to have Tysom Tomko take him on with Christian at his side. Before we go to commercial, we see Batista heading out for his match.

Tomko whips Orton and Orton takes him down. Orton goes for a pin, but Tomko kicks out. Tomko slams Orton and we see Christian dragging Stacy down the ramp. Orton is distracted, and this allows Tomko to clothesline him.

Tomko stomps away at his head and as Orton tries to back off, he finds himself cornered and Tomko decides to choke him on the bottom turnbuckle with his foot. Tomko continues to work on Orton and then he goes for a pin, but Orton is able to kick out.

Orton better let go of the front of Tomko’s tights because I don’t wanna have a reason to not continue this report. Orton is beginning to fight back as he hits his signature backbreaker. Orton begins to repeatedly club Tomko’s chest with forearms. Orton takes a breather, which allows Tomko to recover enough to hit a gut shot. Orton dropkicks him and he signals for the RKO, but Orton collapses into the ropes. Tomko seizes the moment as he attacks Orton. Orton wins this with a roll-up that came out of nowhere.

Winner: Randy Orton

Beat the Clock match would feature Chris Jericho.

(1) Beat the Clock #1: Chris Jericho over Christian (w/Tyson Tomko). If Jericho did not win, then Christian would get his spot in the Elimination Chamber, according to a new stipulation by Bischoff. The crowd immediately started chanting “Y2J” as a time clock in the corner of the screen kept track of the time. (What in the world did they need Christy, the Guest Timekeeper, for?) Each wanted a pin as soon as possible, and there were almost constant pinning attempts. Christian put Jericho in a rest hold, then the pinning predicaments resumed. Jericho began to take control of the match, and Christian went over the side and landed on his head. Springboard crossbody to the outside by Jericho, who landed squarely on Tomko and Christian.

Returning from the break, the two collided in the center of the ring. Back on their feet, Jericho came off the ropes with a crossbody and got a near fall. Christian with a near fall, as well. As Tomko argued with the ref, Jericho drop kicked him off the apron. At 10:47 into the match, Christian tapped out to the Walls of Jericho, and Chris Jericho secured his spot in the big PPV match.

Eugene gives Maven a high five for eliminating Grenier but as Maven turns to walk away from Eugene, Eugene grabs him by the back of the head and runs and tosses Maven over the top rope!

When we come back from commercial the ring looks a little less filled and we learned that the Coach was elimated as he jumped out of the ring himself when Benoit went to chop him after Benoit chopped him several times. Regal and Conway get tossed by Snitsky who was nailing people in the head. The Hurricane and Rosey nearly go out at the same time as Snitsky tossed Rosey out and Batista tossed the Hurricane out. Chris Jericho says that it was very exciting but not as exciting as his record breaking 7th IC title win. HBK says that he is right but that is why he came out here. He says the two have went at it many times and have torn the roof off the place, but they never really finished it. He says tonight, just imagine it; HBK and Y2J for the IC Title in Seattle. Jericho likes it and he takes his shirt off but Christian's music hits and he comes to speak. Christian tells a story of a man who started out as a tag team specialist but then went on to win a great ladder match and his ego grew a bit and then he became a GREAT superstar. He says he isn't talking about the story of HBK but he is talking about the chronicles of Christian. HBK says that Christian can have his title shot but only if he goes through him first. Jericho tells HBK to calm down and he talks outside to the fans with the mic. He walks and speaks on behalf of fans pointing them out one by one, classic stuff. He goes to two little kids and says that these two have a great idea. 4 men in one match, HBK and Y2J vs. Christian and Goat boy! Before Bishoff can go any further, Christian's music hits and out he comes.  He grabs a mic and says that Bischoff has a near disaster on his hands because all the fans will be rioting in the streets if he doesn't do the right thing by handing the title over to Christian himself.

That prompts Chris Jericho to come out and respond.  Jericho ask Bischoff to make a match between himself and Christian tonight which Bichoff likes the idea of, but he says a match of tht calibre can only happen at Unforgive this Sunday.

Bischoff then asks the fans if they'd like that match to be inside a steel cage and everyone cheers.  But Christian says that won't work for him because the last time he was in a cage match against Jericho, his back was injured and he was out for four long months.  Christian suggest a no-conout match instead and the fans boo so Jericho counters with a ladder match to which Bishoff agrees.  After all this Jericho attacks Christian and attempts to put him int the Walls of Jericho  but Tyson Tomko runs down and rescues him before any great damage can be done.
