The Smackdown! Report
October 28, 2005

The show opened with a detailed recap of the Raw vs. SD feud, dating back to the Raw Homecoming. Once the recap was over, the camera cut to Christian, who was ready to begin the Peep Show. Rey Mysterio wasted no time in getting down to the ring, and he started what turned into an open “pick me” forum for the five superstars eligible to be voted to face Chris Masters and Edge at Taboo Tuesday. Mysterio quickly explained why the fans should choose him, but Matt Hardy came down soon after to explain why the fans should choose him. He gave a quick shout out to the net fans for getting him his job back, but was then interrupted by Hardcore Holly. Holly wants you to vote for him, too.  So does JBL, who was the last to come to the ring.  Finally, Christian was about to talk, but Teddy Long interrupted him and placed all five stars in a match.

Matt Hardy vs. Christian vs. JBL vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Hardcore Holly

In a move that the WWE is pulling more and more often these days, this match foolishly began DURING a commercial break. I hate it when they do that…anyhow, everyone was ganging up on JBL as we joined the match in progress. Holly and JBL then found themselves brawling on the outside while Mysterio and Hardy double-teamed Christian in the ring. Rey and Matt worked well together, pulling an old trick out of the Hardy Boyz’s book with Mysterio jumping off V1’s back and connecting with a leg lariat in the corner.

Hardcore Holly then assumed control of the match with a dropkick to JBL and double clothesline on Mysterio and Hardy. Captain Charisma proceeded to sneak up and catch Holly with a falling reverse DDT. In the spot of the night, Hardy and Mysterio recovered in time to prevent Christian from trying a high risk move off the top rope, and looked to bring him crashing down to the mat with some tandem offense. However, JBL and Holly each got to their feet and executed powerbombs to Matt and Rey as they connected with a double superplex on Christian! The climax of the match came when Holly took out Layfield w/ the Alabama Slam. Christian then got drilled by Rey Mysterio’s 619. Bradshaw eventually gained momentum, hit Holly with the Clothesline from Hell, and caught Rey Rey with a Last Call Fallaway Slam before suffering an unfortunate Twist of Fate (I’m so happy Hardy is on SD). V1, in a rather unfortunate twist of fate of his own, then ended up falling victim to Christian’s Unprettier. The finish came soon after when Mysterio pinned Christian with a hurricanrana pin.

(CMV1 rating- ** ¼). (CMV1 note-this whole segment could pretty much be summed up as being “fun.” First, it was good to hear all the superstars at least try to make Taboo Tuesday’s so called ultimate fan interaction seem legit by campaigning for your votes. Then, of course, the five-man match followed the opening segment nicely with a whole bunch of high spots to get the crowd popping. I enjoyed it…good stuff).

The Peep Show made its return to Smackdown after a
multi-week absence. Captain Charisma wasted little
time in telling us that he thinks he deserves a US title shot after pinning Benoit a couple of weeks ago in tag team action. Booker T then showed that he listens to his spouse by coming out and demanding a US title shot of his own. Orlando Jordan then came out and talked about how he deserves a shot, too. Christian decided to mirror my thoughts by cracking a very well-timed and all-too-true joke about how what OJ just said had taken longer than one of Jordan’s matches with Benoit. Smackdown GM Teddy Long then joined the fray and alerted the three superstars that he was going to allow Benoit to pick his own opponent for No Mercy. With that, he gave the guys a chance to prove themselves by booking a triple threat, which led to…

Booker T vs. Christian vs. Orlando Jordan
The climax of the match saw the three men connect with a sky high superplex-powerbomb combination. Book was the first to capitalize on the melee, hitting OJ with a crescent heel kick. He then performed the Spinaroonie and went for the axe kick on Christian, but Captain Charisma countered and went for the Unprettier. The finish came when Book countered Christian’s finisher and connected with a slingshot, only to have Jordan come from behind and roll him up for the three count. OJ pinned Booker

After the bout, United States Champion Chris Benoit
came out and stared down all of his potential
challengers. He went around to each one of them and
gave them a look as if he was going to choose them to
be his opponent at the October 9th PPV, but then
decided that all of them would get a shot, as he chose
to face the three of them in a Fatal Fourway match.

Backstage, TRL and network executive Palmer Cannon
were hanging out when Vince McMahon showed up and
asked Teddy what SD’s match on next week’s RAW
Homecoming would be. Long said that it would involve
Mysterio, Batista, JBL, Guerrero, Benoit, and
Christian

Booker T (w/ Sharmell) vs. Christian

The match began with Booker T dominating Captain Charisma. Eventually, Christian attempted a comeback, only to have it thwarted by the 5-time WCW Champion.  The tide finally turned when Christian countered Book’s attempt at 10 mounted punches in the corner into a Powerbomb. Christian then went for a pinning combination with his feet on the ropes, but Sharmell made the cheating apparent to the ref, allowing Booker to escape the predicament and get back on the offensive. Book proceeded to hit a crescent heel kick, which presumably put Christian down long enough for a Spinaroonie. However, the side kick was not enough to keep Captain Charisma down, as when Book went for his patented time-waster, Christian clocked him and teased a Spinaroonie of his own. Book was the first to regain momentum after the potential dance-off, hitting a spinebuster and the Bookend for a couple of near falls. Seeking to desperately work his way back into the match, Christian then grabbed the ref and poked Book in the eye to gain some much needed momentum. He quickly hit a rear backbreaker for a near fall. The finish came when Christian went for the Unprettier, but Book countered and tossed him into the ropes.  Sharmell then tripped Christian, allowing Booker T to get the win via roll-up.

note- solid opening match to kick off the show, but I’m personally tired of seeing Christian wander around aimlessly in the mid-card. What happened to that big push he was looking to get at the beginning of the summer? Sharmell is getting annoying by the way, but if the purpose of her being that way is to get Booker T to do a pseudo turn that eventually gets her ass off TV, then I’m all for it).

Benoit tries for a Sharpshooter, but Christian makes it to the ropes. Christian tries for the Unprettier, but Benoit counters with a Crossface. Orlando breaks it up. Booker comes in and kicks Orlando and then he hits a super kick on Christian. Booker goes outside the ring and takes a chair from Orlando Jordan. Booker sends Orlando into Charmin [trademark Dave Scherer], who does not make a soft landing. When Booker checks on his wife, Orlando Jordan sends Booker into the steps. Inside the ring, Benoit with a German suplex. He sees Orlando on the apron and knocks him off. Benoit with another two German suplexes on Christian before he gives the signal that it is over. BOOKER T (w/Sharmell) vs. MR. KENNEDY
Christian, with his nose taped, joined Cole and Tazz at ringside. Kennedy insulted the ring announcer and then did his own drawn out ring introduction. Christian said he can't breathe through one of his nostrils. At 6:30, as Booker hit the Spinaroonie and then went to the top rope, Sharmell got in Christian's face at ringside. She said she didn't know what he was saying, but she was going to straighten him out. Booker was distracted when Christian stood up to confront his wife. Kennedy took advantage and hit his front flip fireman's carry slam for the win. Kennedy announced himself as the winner afterward.

Thanks to Buck Woodward and PWInsider.com for the following:

The Peep Show. Christian, in his wrestling gear, talked about having to clean up his set after what the Mexicools did last week, and pointed out to them that he was still here because "that's how he rolls". He then brought out his guests, Booker T & Sharmell. Christian said that Booker T was a five-time WCW Champion and a big star, but the "big stars get the tough questions". Christian asked if Booker and Sharmell were still on "speaking terms" after last week's argument following their loss to Joey Mercury & Melina. Christian had them air the footage from last week. Christian said Booker let his "non-wrestler" wife get beat up, and he is in the running for the "Ike Turner-Tommy Lee Husband Of The Year Award". Christian then said he was going to list the impressive things Booker T has done lately, but couldn't think of any. Christian asked what he had done lately, and Sharmell actually said it was a good question. Booker said he beat Christian at the Great American Bash and beat up Kurt Angle when he put his hands on Sharmell. Booker got mad at Sharmell for siding with Christian. Sharmell said Booker needs to start remembering "who he is".

As Booker was about to say who he is, the Mexicools rode out on their lawnmowers. Christian attacked Psicosis on the outside, and Super Crazy joined the fight. Juventud entered the ring, and shoved Sharmell as he went to tell his partners to toss Christian into the ring. Booker, after checking on Sharmell, tossed Psicosis and Super Crazy out of the ring, while Christian ran off Crazy. Booker and Christian gave each other an uneasy stare as the Mexicools backed down the aisle.

It was announced that Theodore R. Long had ordered a tag team match with Booker T & Christian vs. The Mexicools for later tonight.

Christian & Booker T, with Sharmell, vs. Super Crazy & Psicosis, with Juventud.

They started brawling at the start, with Psicosis getting tossed out of the ring. Christian choked Super Crazy with his T-Shirt and them powerslammed him and knocked Psicosis off the apron. Christian went for Juventud, but that allowed Super Crazy to hit him from behind. Christian gave him a fallaway slam, and Booker tagged in off Christian's back. Christian seemed annoyed, but still held Crazy so Booker could chop him. Crazy poked Booker in the eyes and tagged Psicosis. Christian tagged back in, but Psicosis threw him shoulder first into the ringpost. Psicosis went to work on the arm, and tagged in Crazy, who hit a second rope dropkick for two. Crazy held Christian against the top rope so Psicosis could jump off it to the floor, yanking Christian's throat across the top. Super Crazy went for a cover, but Booker broke it up. The Mexicools kept Christian in their corner, but Christian mounted a comeback, only for Psicosis to hit him with a spin kick. Crazy went for a moonsault, but Christian moved out of the way and Crazy crashed to the mat. Booker got the hot tag and superkicked Psicosis and clotheslined Crazy. Booker hit a sidekick on Psicosis and gave Crazy a spinebuster. Juventud grabbed Booker from the apron to stop his momentum. Sharmell started to yell at Christian to get in the ring, which Christian didn't take kindly to, and he started arguing with her. Booker shot Christian a look, and Christian threw up his hands and walked away. This distracted Booker, and Psicosis and Super Crazy hit him with a double back suplex for the win at the six minute mark. Winners: The Mexicools.

Post-match, Christian watched from the aisle, pointing to his bloodied nose, and walked away, while in the ring, Sharmell complained to a silent Booker T.

The Peep Show:

Christian is in the ring for the Peep Show, and said when they love ya, they really love ya. He welcomed Toronto to the Peep Show, the show for the peeps, by the peeps. He said if you thought last weeks show was big, wait until you see how big this show is going to be. He said he's going to interview a huge superstar, and ask the tough questions. He said he is talking about the man who last week beat Batista's ass, he's talking about their hometown hero, Christian! The music of the Mexicool's then hit the arena as they came down on their lawnmowers. The surrounded the ring and then jumped in. Christian yelled at the Mexicools, and played around with his set. Super Crazy punctured the blow up chair, and then asked how to say ass beating in Mexican. The Mexicools then jumped Christian but Christian tried to fight back. Super Crazy laid out Christian with a boot to the face and then tore up the set some more. Crazy and Psicosis hit stereo moonsaults and leg drops from the top and then Juvy splashed him and acted like they pinned him. They than sat on his couch as said they are not Mexicans, they are Mexicools! Poor Christian =(

1st ever "Peep Show" - Christian vs. Mysterio
August 4, 2005

Rey Mysterio came to the ring to be the guest on Christian's new talk show segment, "The Peep Show". Christian talked about what happened last week, but Rey interrupted him, saying Christian had promised him that Eddie Guerrero would be there. Rey demanded that Christian bring out Eddie Guerrero. Christian introduced Eddie Guerrero, but Guerrero appeared on the screens, instead of coming to the ring. Eddie had a book titled "Eddie's Bedtime Stories", and was wearing his new "I'm Your Papi!" shirt. Guerrero said he was going to tell "Chapter 2" of his bedtime story. Rey yelled at Eddie to shut up from the ring. Eddie stopped reading, and said Rey was being rude, and needed to mind his manners. Guerrero promised to finish Chapter 2 by the end of the night, and remarked that Rey would "really like it". Christian then remarked "I think you will like this too" and hit Mysterio in the back of the head with the microphone. Christian then laid out Mysterio with the Unprettier.

Rey Mysterio vs. Christian. Rey attacked Christian as he got on the apron, hitting a springboard dropkick that sent him to the floor. Mysterio hit a pescado, then tossed Christian into the ring to officially start the match. Christian kicked Rey in the gut and whipped him hard into the corner, then did the same into the opposite corner. Rey slid under Christian's legs on a whip, then took Christian down and pounded him with right hands. Christian tried to toss Rey out of the ring, but Rey springboarded back in and hit a seated senton. Eddie and Anna walked out of the entranceway, and Tazz speculated that Anna was Dominic's biological mother. Rey was distracted by them coming out as they went to break.

Back from commercial, Christian worked over Rey with an abdominal stretch. Christian tried for a vertical suplex, but Rey rolled him into a small package for two. Christian kicked out, stomped Rey, and hit a shoulderblock to the ribs. Eddie and Anna were sitting at the end of the aisle, with Eddie holding his storybook. Christian dropped two headbutts to Rey's midsection, then applied a waistlock. Rey broke out and hit a neckbreaker. Christian dropped Rey gut first on the top rope twice, and gave him a knee lift the second time that sent Rey to the floor. Christian rammed Rey into the ringsteps. From the apron, Rey headbutted Christian in the gut and dropped him throat first across the top rope.

Rey went for a springboard, but Christian dropkicked him in the gut as he was in mid-air. Christian snapmared Rey to the mat and applied a Stretch Plum variation. Christian kicked Rey's mid-section, but Rey came back with a springboard bodyblock for two. Christian gave Rey a lariat for two and applied a side bearhug. Christian lifted Rey into a fireman's carry, but Rey rolled it down into a pinning position for two. Rey dropkicked Christian's legs out and then dropkicked him in the face for a two count. Christian lifted Rey, but Mysterio turned it into a rana for a two count. Rey missed a springboard bodyblock, and Christian hit a fallaway slam for a two count as they went to commercial.

Back from break, Rey hit Christian with a swinging DDT for two, but Christian came back with a knee to the gut. Christian went for the Unprettier, but Rey broke out and dropkicked Christian into 619 position. Rey hit the 619, then delivered a springboard legdrop to the back of Christian's neck for the win at the twenty minute mark. Winner: Rey Mysterio.

Booker hit the Book End to Christian but Jordan pulled his partner out of the ring. Christian kept referring to Mathews as “Ryan Secrest”. Christian said Booker would be a “two-time, two-time, loser” at the Bash.

Christian told him he didn’t appreciate him trying to embarrass him. Booker T told him he has to earn his respect. Sharmell nodded in the background.

BATISTA vs. CHRISTIAN

When Cole touted Batista’s win at Hell in a Cell, he conspicuously didn’t mention Triple H was his opponent. As usual, the babyface dominated early, then they cut to a break, after which Christian had control.

Christian scored a two count after a DDT at 7:15. Christian went to his obligatory mid-match chinlock (just to be sure if the crowd was emotionally invested in the match, he brings them back down; Christian likes a challenge). Batista lifted Christian into the air while on his shoulders and gave him the Electric Chair drop to the mat at 10:00. The ref began counting both men down. Batista made a full-fledged comeback at 11:00 including a clothesline in the corner, a powerslam, a spinebuster, and the Batista Bomb for the clean win.

WINNER: Batista at 11:58.
